One of the best places to chill out

I've always been to Any Time, It's truly one of the best places. A 24 hours coffee shop which serves very good break fast,a wide variety lunch and dinner buffet. The buffet is worth every penny you pay..there's a variety of salads, starters..The deserts being my fav. One can also go here any given point of time in the mid night and the staff is very kind and courteous. I'd rate AnyTime as one of the best coffee shops. Cheers guys.

Food for thought!!

Any Time as the name suggests provide food anytime.The place also has a 24hr coffee shop. The place is well lit, and has an inviting look and the menu includes all kinds of continental, south indian and north indian menu. the buffet has been arranged at an affordable rate, which is the speciality of GRT Grand! I was pleased with service and food when i visited the place with my family! And the tempting desserts include Zuccotto, Mousse Au Chocolate, Banana Flan etc, which are rare ones apart from gulab jamuns and other desi stuffs!!

Cajun & Creole Festival- Interesting & delicious

A few steps into the grand lobby and there it was, straight ahead. I noticed the Newspaper clipping collage with the board that said "Cajun & Creole fete" at the entrance to Anytime in GRT Grand. I was there on behalf of Burrp to enjoy the evening, and the experience!

My initial reaction on seeing the lavish spread and the decor was "Wow, this looks interesting, i wonder what the cuisine is going to be like".. After a lazy stroll around the Buffet we were seated and bowls of Calabaza soup was served to our seats. It was a light soup filled with flavour and vegetables [Coloured capsicums, Brocolli and Zucchini], perfect start to the evening...

Chef Srinath came over, introduced himself and gave me a sneak peek into what this festival was all about and how they were doing New menu every day. He spoke in length on The Creole & Cajun fest being a dedication of sorts to the different kinds of beans and rich vegetables along with a few special spice mixes.



I quite liked the way the Buffet had been laid out.. There was the Non veg dishes on one side while the Veg sat on the other side.. And then came the short stroll towards the Dessert bar before heading over to the Coffee/tea counter and then the most interesting dessert of them all- Chocolate truffle Fritters...

We were so tempted to dig into the main dishes that we made a beeline for the Salad bar 1st..
Ceasar Salad, Fresh garden vegetables with an assortment of Dips, Quennels of feta & brocooli in a cherry tomato salad, A duet of baby corn and brussel sprouts and then there was the sinful Pineapple in cream sauce sitting on a bed of lightly cooked Beans with a walnut on top were some of the options we had. Each of these were served in small single portion dishes, which made it easy to serve and savour.

There was also a wide array of cheeses to sample! There was also Thayir vadai, which was a tad too sweet for my liking... They also had a choice of sauces, pickled olives, gherkins and other items that one could add to make their own salad.

The starter counter next to the salad bar had the sweet crunchy Rangoon vegetables [an assortment of Baby corn, capsicums, tofu], a potato nuggets, fried wanton, Keerai bonda and interesting looking Bharwan Chi Chinga [Snake gourd stuffed with vegetables]... I tried almost all and favoured the Rangoon vegetables and potato nuggets the most. Snake gourd rings were ok, not really my thing...

Between mouthfuls i managed to chat with the Chef and sous chef on the festival and some of the dishes they had served up. It was quite a treat because not only was the food delicious, it was also low on spice but rich in flavour! Oh, how can i forget the Live counter- Mandzi, African Yam Ball With mango chutney and Morroccan Spiced vegetables. We tried the Mandzi [cardomon flavoured flour based little nuggets that were light as a feather and subtle in flavour] and the Morroccan vegetables[Coloured capsicums, green & yellow zucchini, brocolli, sprouts cooked with their spice mix].


The ambience was simple and comfortable, there were little touches here and there that added to the whole feel- A few jazz musician figurines, and a few photographs from the bygone era.. The waiters all wore Sombreros, though i wondered the connection!

Moving on to the main course, i took a spoonful of the Pigeon Peas & Rice that was red in colour, with refried beans and tomato flavours leading the pack.There was also the Patatas a las importancia [Potatoes cooked in onion & saffron sauce] and Cajun Bean Cake with Creole Sauce that was like a hara bara kabab except it had a bang of flavour.. I noticed two bowls of chutneys near the live counter.

The chef explained one was Mint chutney and other was Banana chutney, it was sweet and thick with banana pulp [an acquired taste am sure]

Found it a bit strange that they served Indian Rotis on the table, because it kind of sticks out amidst the Creole & Cajun dishes. But then, when i did wander around the buffet, i discovered there were quite a few Indian side dishes on display as well- Dal Panchmela, Paneer Kali Mirchi Masala and Getti Kozhambu [Tamarind based South indian curry] along with vazhakkai melagu peratal [raw banana curry made south indian style]...

I steered towards the non indian dishes, choosing the Noodles and Thai Vegetable curry for the main course. I've always loved the Thai Curry and this was quite a treat, loved it... For those whose meals ends with Curd rice, their wish is fulfilled here as well... :-)


Phew.. that was a lot of food, right? I was not done yet. Still had to test out the desserts, and between me and mom, we tried almost all the items on display.... Among the desserts on the menu, the Best were the Baked Blueberry Cheese cake, Orange Mousse cake and Lemon tart stood out. The Kiwi Eclairs, Almond Brulee, Prunes pudding and the make believe Baklava were ok, some were missing flavour while others were thick & dense... Oh the Chocolate Truffle Fritters were the highlight of the evening, they looked like little lollypops and there was a burst of chocolate in the mouth as you bit into these little wonders....

What a way to end the evening... I now look forward to going back for the festival and on a normal day to experience the other dishes they have to offer.

Price- well, it was for a review, so i cant really comment on this, but if one were to go for the Fest, the buffet is for Rs799 per pax.
Overall Rating - 8/10

The Fest is on from November 25 to December 4, and will include Jambalaya, Spicy etouffee, Saucy Screole, Crispy Grillades and Grits, from 7.30 pm onwards

'Anytime' any time.

It was a bachelor's party and we needed a special place to celebrate the occassion of someone losing his azadi ;-). After fidgeting between residency towers and GRT granddays,our gracious host settled down for Anytime

So GRT granddays it was and anytime the lunch spot. The agreed upon time for meeting was 12.00 PM on a saturday and following the very flexible IST most of them had not even woken up by that time. A Few us - the punctual gurus - got pretty flustered and after some round of discussions headed head to hightime,the inhouse bar. The bar had great ambience but no a/c and the service was so-so. The cost..well..normal high-end bar's menu list,charging 145 for 30ml of vodka.Reminded me of the good ol' days in pondy where we spent the same amount for a full vodka bottle.

Finally the whole group of 10 gave attendance by 1 o clock.And the ones in high spirits joined them at the lunch table.The cost of the buffet was 591[incl of taxes] and they had this offer of 1 buffet free for 10,so we wud be charged for 9 buffets.Sounded cool.

Luckily the Cool part did not stop over there. The menu was fantabulous.Personally I had never seen such a wide variety n choice for non-vegetarians in a buffet lunch. Residency towers, Le Meridian or Raddisson,the places where I had experienced lunch buffets before had non-veg for name sake. Probably 2-3 items say one chicken based,one mutton based and one more egg/fish based.

Anytime had more than that and the best part they had sea-food.And well prepared sea-food to be more specific. Normally I avoid sea food as gives me a creepy crawly feeling,but the prawn fry here was too good and irresistible. Their biryani tasted very much home-made, not to mention the yummy mutton and chicken gravies. The fish tikka kinda dish tasted different,unable to categorize it as good or bad as i forgot the take the accompanying sauce.

The best part of the lunch buffet was the parottas which were prepared on the spot and stuffed with paneer or chicken.They tasted good and the ones which were served to our tables did disappear pretty quickly.

Amidst all this melee forgot to mention the soup,which was a bit disappointing. The veggies had 2 choices -tomato n another one,but the non-veg section had only prawn soup.I for one had got addicted to the habit of a chicken soup before the meal, but the variety of starters made me move on.

After relishing and devouring all their non-veg cuisine I did not want to leave without trying out the vegetarian ones. So jumped into the ghee filled thenga paal[coconut milk]rice and pullav, munched a few of the fried starters ventured into the veg gravy & chomped the noodles...Phew.. Wish I had an extra tummy.

Then started savoring their delightful desserts. While the pastry melted in,the milk payasam reminded authentic ones had in southern weddings. There were other sweets like jamuns, rossogullahs and many more which could not be tried out due to space crunch.

The service was above average. The waiter's were friendly and always around the corner[luckily not staring at us emptying the buffet trays]. There was a special gesture too. They saw our host- the soon to be ex-bachelor handing over his wedding invites personally to all of us. After a few minutes had a congratulations cake presented to him. It added to the occassion and the cake cutting went on though none could join me for relishing the creamy and soft cake.

Overall a delightful experience and awesome would surely be an understatement to describe it. They also served drinks in anytime. Three Cheers !!! to anytime and ofcoz our soon-to-be-married pal who took care of the bill :-)

Exploding stars- beware!

Been there twice now- probably will never go back. Coffee took ages to arrive- I had to remind the waiter, his colleague, his manager and then the waiter again before the Coffee arrived- all in all it must have taken 25 minutes...Now that is certainly not 4-star service. Bit into my Veg. sandwich only to realize that it contain a slice of chicken- was very frustrating- for a strict vegeterian.
The manager (Gangadharan) did apologize (and it sounded hollow) but only when I demanded an explanation, just as we were about to leave- he did not even care to make an appearance (he said he saw we were busy and did not wish to interrupt) before then. Pathetic service and sheer apathy- what a waste of money!

Duh! Heartbreaker!!

Bad luck befalls good restaurants sometimes; maybe it’s just a day. I wish I could write a review with such generosity, since I had a soft corner for this place. The GRT Grand Days’ lounge buffet ‘Anytime’ has been my ‘Alltime’ favorite. Since 2002 I guess, I’ve been there ‘n’ number of times and it has never let me down. Now what better ‘tried and tasted’ place to recommend to fellow burrpers from all around the country for a meet? How frustrating it is, when you are let down so badly and it involves the ‘food honor’ of the city by itself!

Burrpers from every metro in India graced the GRT Grand Days this weekend, and it was all fun except for the food at ‘Anytime’! I mean, what’s got into these guys? It was probably the best buffet in terms of quality and quantity even until a few months back that I visited. The crowd is still the same as it used to be, lot of family esp. on the weekends. The ambiance is typical, nothing innovative. There is an attempt to sophistication though, the food used to cover up for any other inadequacies here. But it seems the other way now. The service is quick and we were actually offered complimentary ice cream for providing melted milkshaky ice cream in the buffet.

To be precise, there is nothing left to remember, nothing finger licking.. oh well nothing edible! No wait, I need better words! The starters were ok, weird names and weird tastes, the main course was nothing weird for a change, it was absofreakinlutely boring set of side dishes, some paneer, some okra, some brinjal, some gourd. The gobi pulao had not a single piece of gobi in it and I guess salt in it either! What I found funny was the ‘Grand’ rice, tasted like a road-side brinji or whatever. Whoever decided to give that rice the signature name! The desserts were not bad, but definitely not the variety there used to be. Only good mention I can give here, is that the Bengali sweets viz. rasagolla, rasamalai, gulab jamun, etc. were awesome.

I didn’t make the mistake of reviewing this place few months back! Supposed to be in my ‘drooling and burrping’ list, now trashed right into my ‘broke my heart’ and ‘never again’ list! Shame on you guys, even if it’s for a day, even if you’ve not satisfied a single customer, you are a loser already. But as a genuine patron, am still wondering where has it gone wrong? Has the chef changed? Or has he become really really old?? Whatever! Mainstreet is right next door and serves their buffet hundred bucks less than GRT (Rs. 525/lunch buffet). I hear the breakfast buffet is good though (continental/south Indian), no reason to be forgiven! Adios, my old friend!

Delicious buffet

My favourite buffet in terms of the taste and the variety spread from starters to desserts.

Nice buffet ambience. Better to book a table before you go as mostly its full.

The price tag makes me go there only once or twice a year, that too when someone treats me ;)

Good Food and More Varities

I had been here for an official dinner. We had the buffet where they served sizzling hot fish, Paneer kebab. The Soup was ok. The items displayed were exhaustive and taste was very good. If you are just vegetarian, you will not be disappointed with the vegetarian buffet items. They had on offer an equal amount of veggies as meat varieties. Desserts were all good.

I give them ***** stars as the overall experience here is so good.
