Kobe beef in South Mumbai?
Yes, you wouldn't expect it, but its here - Kobe beef! This tender, tasty meat has made its way to India - apparently the animals are fed beer and massaged 4 times a day to make the meat tender and sumptuous (as seen on TV - Disc. T&L, I believe!). Tetsuma has managed to make the most of the dearth of Japanese/East Asian cuisine in the city to provide a great dining experience.
We started off the meal with some Maki Sushi (rice rolls with different fillings incouding prawn, salmon, and prawn) and the Prawn tempura which are to die for! Subtely different from the regular Tempura at other (few) east Asian restaraunts, the prawns were a hit throughout the meal with someone at the table always wanting more! For our main course we ordered the Beef Tepanyaki and Bulgogi while our friends had the Black Cod and Chillean Sea Bass - we all walked away (rather rolled away) from the dining table with no space for dessert!
Tetsuma is not cheap - I would say it one of the most expensive places I have been to in the city. Having said that, it's a place where you would entertain guests - they will thoroughly enjoy it! If you need to impress someone - this is the place to go. Make sure that you inform the staff before hand though if your guests are important and I'm sure they will oblige.
All in all, a great ambiance, great food - makes for a great place.
