You drove all the way out here for THIS?

I went to Aurus for the 1st time this past weekend and was instantly reminded of a Seinfeld episode. It's the one where the group drives for more than an hour to attend an entirely hum-drum party on Long Island. At some point in the party, another guest remarks to Jerry, "You drove all the way out here for THIS?"

While certainly not "Hum-Drum", I thought Aurus was definitely not what it was cracked up to be.

Pros:
- Overall, the ambeince of the place was pretty great - nice outdoor deck with an ocean view
- Well stocked bar with an extensive array of adult beverages
- Decent mix of people

Cons:
- It took almost 2 hours to get there!!!
- Located on the ground floor of what seemed to be an office building from circa 1986. If you stand on the aforementioned outdoor deck and looked back towards the bar, you could see the office building in all it's glory!
- RIGHT in the flight path of the international airport. This made things very noisy and distracting everytime a plane flew over (and that was literally every 5 minutes)
- Inexperienced/inept bar-staff (they found it wierd that I aksed for a cocktail onion with my Martini)
- Ghastly indoor section - badly lit and poorly laid out (indoor section came complete with Bandra/Juhu auntie-types indelicately stuffing their faces)
- Teeming with "tragically-hip" north-Bombay filmy types (think oversized sun-glasses at night just because it's the new trend)

I went to Aurus because it was a friend's birthday, but in general, I did not think this place was worth the drive all the way to Juhu. If you are looking for this atmosphere I can think of at least 2 places right in town (Saltwater Grill & The Dome) where you can get it without such a long list of "cons" attached.
