10 years back, it was the only decent place in Saltlake for fine dining sans Mishras.
We were into IT Industry and getting overseas visitor every month. The obvious joint for dinner or lunch was Charnock City.
The best of their cuisine was the "Dab Chingri" or the Tiger Prawns cooked in Green Coconut. The prawns get succulent with a rich creamy texture, exotic in taste. It is best served with steamed rice. The good thing was they never over cooked the Prawns. I got this kind of "just rightly" cooked soft prawns in Goa Shacks, their Garlic Butter Prawns.....just heavenly.
The other popular dish for our order was Rajasthani "Laal Maas" used to come in fiery red hot gravy. Of late, after marrying the lady from Rajasthan, I came to know the Laal Maas served at Charnock was not so authentic. The distinctive gralic flavour was missing.
Anyways, I would rate 5 on 5 for their ambiance and 4 on 5 for the food.
