Vertigo is a nice, cosy pub situated in the heart of Malad West in Ever shine Nagar. When you enter through the rusty wooden gates, you are immediately introduced to dark wooden furniture with low seating on the outside. If you decide to sit inside, you will at once take a liking to the dim yellow lighting, the comfortable interiors, a long bar on one side of the room, and a plasma tv which alternates between sports channels, music vidoes and FTV based on what the people demand. When you see the room for the first time, you may feel its a little stuffy, but after subsequent visits to Vertigo, you feel glad that its a small place where good people actually come to talk, drink and chill without the usual noise, the pelting music, and dirty toilets that you see elsewhere.
The music varies between retro and alternative rock; the owner Mr.Ruchir goes through great lengths to ensure that everyone is having a good time at his pub. He will play your requests, increase the volume, change the tv channel, etc for you. The music played are the classics, and the usual hits of the 80's and the 90's, but at Vertigo, there will be times when you will hear that one song you haven't heard in a while, and you realize what you were missing when you spent time in the other pubs, where the same classics played over and over and over again.
Vertigo has happy hours between 1 pm to 8 pm; you get one on one free on Indian liqours et al; in the case of beer, you get one foster pint free with every 3 pints. The only issue is that they don't sell beer in pitchers or in bottles. They do provide complimentary peanuts. The food is a little heavily priced, but if ordered,. its good food. On the menu, you will find all the usual Indian and other stuff that you would see in any restaurant, but most people stick to the starters, when it comes to food. It doesn't matter that the liqours are priced a little on the higher side, compared to other pubs in the area, you will coolly go for it as you know the overall experience makes up for it.
In conclusion, after a good day at work, you want to relax, have a few drinks, share some good conversation with your friends over some good music and then head home, vertigo is the place for you. For me, the place has always acted as a stimulant for a good conversation with friends, sometimes lasting for hours. I can now confess, that I am addicted to Vertigo. I need my weekly doses :)
