Rick James was a regular patron of the China Club - but this is China House!
From the long, snaking line of good-looking people, to the classy interiors, to the Miami-like bottle service at the roped-off tables, this place just oozes exclusivity. One of the best aspects of this restaurant-cum-lounge in the Grand Hyatt is the music. Our entourage got into this place around 10:30 with solid 80s blaring on the sound system. Around midnight, the focus slowly shifted to pure clubbing beats, and finally, a smooth transition into hip-hop at 2AM. I believe this place shuts down around 4AM, so it allows for a full night of hedonism. Make sure you're not the type to get star-struck, because you're sure to see some personalities here every weekend.
My only complaint about this place is the lackluster bartenders, who don't know what the f*ck they're doing. Drinks are watered down, expensive, and you'd be lucky to get one drink every 30 minutes. If you can get to know one of the bartenders (this usually happens by dropping a lot of dough), you can drastically improve your experience here.
Dress your best, and welcome, to the China House - a ching a ching ching (for all those Dave Chappelle/Rick James fans!!).
