For a hotel that's been started in 1932, the place is absolutely neat and clean and very well maintained. It situated at the corner junction of two streets and can be mistaken for one of the old Irani joints. But make no mistake, the food's vegetarian and absolutely value for money.
After reading the earlier misal review on burrp, decided to try it out. Absolutely great tasting misals. Very well made.
Make it a point to meet the wonderful owner of the place, Vivek Prabhu. A third generation restauranteur, very well qualified (he's a Chartered Accountant) and very passionate about the food he serves. If you happen to be at the restaurant between 9.30 a.m. to 6.00p.m. you're sure to meet him.
On his recommendation, I tried out the iced tea and the Alpha Plus sandwich. The sandwich is an absolute melt-in-the-mouth dish served with mayo and ketchup. The iced tea is another speciality, not at all sweet like the packaged ones available. It's very refreshing, made fresh and is also available as a take-away in disposable glasses.
Also ordered the Garlic Cheese Masala Dosa. An absolutely unbelievable dish. This is the only restaurant to serve a Garlic Dosa in Mumbai. The taste is unbelievable and the garlic does not leave an aftertase in the mouth. A great recipe that Vivek's come up with.
Very Very value for money, when you take into account that the bill for 2 misals, 2 cups of iced tea, 1alpha plus sandwich and 1 garlic cheese masala dosa came up to Rs.172.00
Don't be put off by the name or the location. Wonderful food. Great Value. And an owner who's passionate about what he makes. One of the best combinations possible.
