al fresco dining Mumbai ishtyle
For several years, Ramnik's Grocery store was the only place where the girls from Sophia could hang out. It was also the only place where the other young people in the area could hang out with them.
It came as a bit of a surprise when the decidedly uncool baniya shop became a slic new eatery Under the Banyan Tree. Truly under the Banyan Tree, it is a tiny little place which just about has enough space for a table, four PYT and a pastry counter. Which is why most of the eating does happen under the banyan tree or al fresco dining.
Pure vegetarian with good Italian style food, the pizzas were particularly good. A tad over priced for the ambience which is pleasant enough in Winter but hot in Summer, I would not really recommend it for a good old fashioned family dinner. Not because the food is not good, but because the place is distincly young - with the majority of its diners being collegians ( or at least those who look like collegians) you do begin to feel a bit out of place and truly aunty.
But if you don't feel like driving down to grab a bite, UTBT is just the place for a laid back dining experience with Good food ,no fuss and no frills.
