San Qi, as written in the description, means three energies. This represents the three cuisines this new swanky wine bar and restaurant serve: Indian, Chinese, Japanese. Open tandoors and wok-tossed stuff is served downstairs while they fire up a Japanese robata grill up on the floor above.
The place apparently has been designed by the same folks that designed China House and Thai Pavilion, so unfortunately, this place has almost the exact same feel - nothing too unique (wine bottles on the walls, woody, Asian feel).
Although the skinnied-down menu is probably built for the power lunchers and deal-makers, the food here is great, with more inventive ingredients (salmon tikka, enoki mushroom momos, etc.). Service was warm, friendly, what you would expect at a five star.
Definitely a go-to place for all foodies, but warning: meals not available on lay-away!
