Kong Poush is the re-incarnation of a place called Poush that was located in Shastri Nagar in its previous birth. They've tried to recreate the same Shikara ambiance as before, with some decent amount of success. Unlike the outdoorsy older place, the new one is located entirely indoors. You have to take a flight of stairs to the first floor to reach the dining area.
Took my family last night to this Kashmiri place. Luckily we got a shikara to settle into. Almost all their shikaras were already taken, and this was at 8.30 pm on a Saturday night.
We started off with a couple of soups - Palak Ras and Tamatar Tas. Of the two, the Palak was the better one. We had Leddar Chamman and Nadir Palak Tikki as our appetizers. Although both the appetizers were super tasty, we just got four pieces of Leddar Chamman. A bit of stingy on the quantity side. The server could've informed us that there would be only four pieces (we were a party of six) and whether we would like to order two of the same.
The mint/coriander chutney served on the side was really awesome.
For our main course, we had Rajma, Dum Aloo, KongPoush Chamman and KongPoush Batta (saffron flavoured rice). While everything else was really good, the Dum Aloo was avoidable.
Now for the real reason we came to this place - Kahwah. Kahwa is Kashmiri tea with Saffron, Cardamom and slivers of Almond. No milk is added to the tea. My mom really loved it. The kahwa brought back memories of her visits to Kashmir. Lovely. Can't say that about too many places. The Shufta was good as usual.
While I could've given them 5/5 stars, I've cut down 1 for the lack of cloth napkins, stingy quantity of the Leddar Chaman appetizer and the so-so Dum Aloo.
btw, for the uninitiated, Chamman means Paneer in Kashmiri.
The total damage was about Rs. 1800.
