A treat for vegetarians

I went there a few days ago with a 3 other colleagues from work. This Shiv Sagar is located right next to Kamlings and Mocha on the road that connects the Churchgate Station to Marine Drive. There is another Shiv Sagar in the vicinity, but that is located in the the Eros building and is a much crampier version of the one we went to.

Anyhoo, this Shiv Sagar has got an outdoor seating area as well as an indoor air-conditioned seating. With the summer heat (I know it is September) making a big comeback, the indoor section seemed inviting and we opted for that.

Their menu contains everything that you can possibly think of - Chat, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Italian, Mediterranean etc etc. Now this place serves 100% vegetarian food. So when you see some Tangri dish, it would actually have carrots substituting for the Chicken Tangris.

They also have a good variety of drinks (beer, wine, hard liquor, mocktails) on the menu. Don't expect them to have any Glenfiddichs or Grey Goose. The top liquor they serve is Black Dog, Antiquity etc. You get the point. The neat part is the tons of Chakhna (light snacks) they serve during your round of drinks. Peanuts, Carrots, Cucumber, Chakri, Sev, Papad etc all keep coming non-stop. It is all gratis with your drinks.

The food was really really tasty. We've tried their Punjabi dishes and they were all very well cooked and flavourful.

I would also give full marks to their friendly service, though sometimes the waiters don't know one punjabi dish from another. Who can blame them, though? How many of us can actually tell the difference Paneer Ludhiana, Paneer Amritsari and Paneer something something anyways?.

So full marks for everything - Food, Ambiance, Service and the quantity and variety of Chakhna.

Ps: This is not a place where you would want to go to impress your date. Just take my word for it.
