The sweetest Reshmi Tikka Briyani

Cafe Gulistan is the sister of Cafe Noorani and in no way does it let you down that is of course if you choose to go in for the North India fare. Why anyone would choose to order Chinese from a place called Café Gulistan is beyond me!

The ambience is not much to write home about, then again we are here for the food and you décor related sensibilities can be left outside.

The service is rather efficient especially in the afternoons. The waiters are pleasant and step you to through the menu (dry ya gravy, red gravy spicy, yellow gravy sweet etc…. you get my drift)

The kebabs are extremely succulent, especially the lasuini and reshmi. But the piece de resistance has to be the Reshmi Tikka Briyani. You can ask any true blue Santa Cruz resident about the best Briyani and this one will come up 9 out of 10. Unlike most briyanis this one is much lighter. It isn’t half as oily as its counter parts served elsewhere. Its fragrance and fluffy grains also get thumbs up. However the best part is the reshmi kebabs in a cashew and onion gravy at the bottom of the dish, that truly are the stars. The blend is perfect and oft, you will be struggling for more rice as there appears to be more kebab than rice. Not that a lot of people would complain.

Wind down your meal with the caramel custard or the classic phirni. Strongly recommend the caramel custard, as its consistency and melt in the mouth texture would be the perfect ending.
