Good place to sit and stare

This is a good place to sit and stare because the likelihood of you getting food on your table is very remote. Best avoid this place if you are famished, you will have better luck with the bhelpuri walas on Juhu beach.
The ambience is nice though the layout of the restaurant is very confusing. When you enter, you initially awed by the Buddha-bar setup. Then you see a dimly lit passage which leads to a dance floor with an adjoining seating area. And if you have to go to the loo, you have to traverse this entire area, which can be embarassing when there is a private party going on there.
The indoor restaurant makes you feel like you are having a dinner at a haveli of some thakur in a village that has yet to be introduced to electricity and you wait for some village girls to break out into a dance.
There is a long central wooden table and several smaller offshoot tables. The high backed wooden chairs look heavy and not highly comfortable.
The French windows are a nice touch, but those dining inside can only gape at the diners outside and kids indoors have a good time making faces at the outdoor diners (like it happened to me, though I did not mind it a bit).
I recommend the patio eating area which has a lounge effect with wooden tables and two sofas on both side. But you have to remove your shoes to sit on those sofas as there is no gap between the sofa and the table, which makes eating very uncomfortable.
There is a fountain in the background which makes a pleasant tingling noise. This area is ideal if you are in a group or for an intimate time with someone.
The service sucks big time. I ordered for a Cosmo and the steward went to hunt for it and vanished for half hour. After repeatedly calling out to him, he returned and said that the Cosmo was not available as they did not have cranberry juice!
I opted for a vodka-kahlua-espresso drink which sounded interesting, but again the steward did his Houdini act.
Finally, cancelling both drinks, I ordered for prawns cooked the Bengali way, butter chicken and chura paratha. The prawns were succulent and well cooked. The butter chicken felt more like chicken gassi from a Manglorean joint. The paratha was the best thing that came from the kitchen though.
I ordered for rara mutton, but cancelled the order when I was done with everything that had been served and the mutton still was waiting to meet me.
The service sucks, which even the owner admitted saying that they were under staffed and were formally opening on Feb 2, 2008. The steward kept apologising that they had a private party which is why he was not able to pay us any attention. Yeah, right, as if the food was on the house.
The number given above for the restaurant rings on without a reply. And they even swiped my credit card twice, though they chased me to the parking lot asking me to sign the second slip as void.
Diners on the other table were also grumbling and picked a fight with the steward because their drinks were not served even after 40 minutes.
Clearly this place will need a total service makeover even before it has begun, if it intends to stay in business.
