The buffet at Machaan is total VFM. Here's why:
Ambience: Scores a good 4.5/5 especially for kids
Food quality: Kebabs and biryani alone are worth the price. In fact, we hardly eat anything else.
Service: Great. Deserves a 4.5/5
Very few buffets have good starters served fresh and hot. I've been to the Machaan buffet 4 times and the biryani and kebabs have been great always.
One sore point was that the prawn curry was quite average with the prawns being rubbery and with that 'frozen' seafood smell. Clearly avoidable.

Went to Machaan yesterday for lunch. They've taken up an entire floor of a building and converted it into a restaurant. The restaurant has a jungle theme. My kid had a great time spotting all the almost life-sized stuffed animals they had planted all over the place. They even have a few faux banyan trees to go with the theme.
Going with the recommendations of fellow burrpers, we went in for the Aam Panna Jaljeera. Boy, what a treat it was. It was a bit spiced up, but very flavourful.
We went for the the lunch buffet. The appetizers were served to us on the table itself. The pani puri had turned soggy and was mediocre, but the samosa chaat was excellent.
While the buffet didn't have an lavish variety of items, it was good enough for lunch. The dessert variety was good - ice-cream, mal-pooda, kheer, brownie cake, chocolate mousse and fresh fruit.
I was impressed by the waiter (can't recall the name, but the lastname was Ganguly).
Overall a very positive experience. Highly recommended. Safe to go there with friends and family.

Machaan - a place to be if you are a north indian Food Freak... there menu ranges a good varoieity of eateries and its simply awesomme...... the ambiance is the first of its kind ever seen in bombay - rest are followers (i must say).
Their Buffets are simply amazing and you better have a good appetite to relish on everything they serve here! :)

We've tried this place twice, and come back more than satisfied both times.
Their buttery Dal Makhani and Zafrani Biryani with it's delicately saffron flavoured basmati is finger-lickin' good. Even if you don't eat anything else except these two dishes, it will have been absolutely worth the visit.
The decor is pleasant too, with soft lighting, faux trees and animals around, which tries to recreate a jungle ambience.
Prices are steep, but it's a nice place for a special celebration.
They also have a buffet on their open-air terrace, which looks very good, but we haven't tried it as yet.
