I have been to Banyan Tree multiple times and I have always had an issue with the service. I'm not sure why I put myself through this torture because the food is not bad but what spoils every single visit is the horrible service. I kept telling myself that it couldn't get any worse and that management would eventually wake up but they haven't, so I join the many other people who have vowed never to return there again.
Yesterday I was in a rush and stopped by in the morning to have waffles (the restaurant was empty). I made it very clear that I had to leave in 30 minutes and was assured by the waiter that I would have my food in 15 minutes. 25 minutes later I walked out furious after being told it would be ready in "2 more minutes". Knowing how ticked off I was, they still had the nerve to charge me 50 rupees for a bottle of water.
The lazy attitude of the waiters and kitchen staff, plus ownership/management's obvious lack of caring have made this place a joke. I have had multiple other instances where I have had to wait inexcusably long times for my food; orders for forgotten for people in the group while everyone else is served food; or simple things like silverware or salt/pepper have to be requested multiple times to multiple people just to get them to respond.
I urge everyone not to give this place your business. The ownership/management has taken it's customers for granted and makes no effort to provide good service. Do not waste your time or your money with this restaurant.
