We went to Machaan last night at 10PM. Inspite of calling and informing them that we are 10 of us coming to the restaurant in half an hour, no place was reserved for us. By the time we could get our tables, it was almost 11PM and we were waiting for an hour.
As soon as you enter this jungle theme restaurant, you need to decide if you want to go for buffet or ala carte. We chose the buffet and ordered our drinks. The Service is so slow and pathetic, that we had to remind them we were waiting for the drinks. Even if you ask for a glass of water it used to take hours for it to be served. There were no tissue papers or napkins on the table too and we were left wondering as to how these guys function.
Now for the food!! The starters were ok, but were not warm enough!! There was no air-conditioning in the buffet section, and fans were kept at every table to provide some relief from heat. The fish starters were good and better than chicken.
The main course is a spread kept on one side of the section. By the time we could have the main course, the food was over!!! We were only left with all the leftovers!! I hardly managed to get 4 spoons of rice and some dal!! It was very surprising of the management of not informing us to start having food as they are closing at 11.45 itself!! Very weird of them!!
The only thing I liked was the desert which had chocklate mouse, ice-creams and sweets. As they were also left overs, we just managed a scoop of it.
Now for the best part, the bill for 10 of us and 2kids came to a whopping Rs.9,500. We were surprised to see VAT of 25% being charged on liquor. The cost of beer was on an expensive side considering they only served "pint" beer. Inspite of our arguing at 12.45am, we got no explanation for the VAT charged at such rates!!
We were the last to leave the restaurant and have decided never ever to visit this place again!! Overall, an absolute pathetic service and bad management!! I am only giving them 1 star and would never ever visit this place!!
