Event DetailsDhara Dutta has been a senior student of prominent Mumbai-based Odissi dancer and teacher, Daksha Mashruwala, for more than a decade. Dhara's early dance education was in the Kuchipudi dance style, under the tutelage of Rita Choksi from Surat. Later, she became a student of the late renowned Odissi doyen, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, regularly attending dance workshops and masterclasses by him in Orissa and Mumbai. She has performed in solo and ensemble recitals in India and abroad. Some of her more noteworthy performances have been at the Konark Festival (2005), the Mumbai Festival (2006), the Kal ke Kalaakar Festival (2007), among others. She has also played significant roles in several dance ballets, including Vande Mataram (choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra), Rukmini Haran, Navarasa, Gopi Geet and The Other Side (choreographed by Daksha Mashruwala). A personal high-point was a trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil, on a year's cultural exchange programme where she participated in several dance programmes and teaching projects.
