Words, Gut Space and Wallet Money always fall short when you visit this place, well not literally but to some extent. The Chicken Tikka Butter Masala, Garlic Naan and the Laccha Pyaaz and obviously the Dal Makhani should not be given a miss at any cost whatsoever. The place isn't that cheap as it looks like but should not be given a miss. They serve food until 2AM in the night so one really shouldn't be worried if they have a craving for that perfect dish at midnight or past it.
This is one of the things I like about Kolkata- make random plans at odd hours when you are hungry, no need to change, drive to Jai Hind, no need to get out of the car and dine in your pajamas.
Last month my cousins and I decided to eat dhaba food at Jai Hind. The paneer tikka they serve with green chutney is absolutely delicious. Rumali roti, dal makhani and aloo do pyaza were for the main course. While I sat in the car and ate, my cousins stepped out and got served on the hood of the car. They ordered for malai chicken as well. It was very spicy and less creamy. Overall, the food was delicious. And nothing like eating north Indian at a dhaba. Damage- 6 of us ate and paid Rs1300.
Short on some cash , but still can't let go that crazy pangs of hunger which require some delicacies? Turn to jai hind dhaba , another eatery on Sarat Bose road . Pick things of your choice at will , because it's unlikely that even a full meal will burn a hole in your pocket ! My recommendation would be to try the butter paneer masala ....you'll salivate at the prospect of just thinking about it in the future! It's crazy how the punjabi dishes make you hungry for more all the time , and you crave for more! Thanks to these guys for bringing the best in their dishes even at a low cost !
