This place is certainly among my favourtie restaurant serving chinese cuisine. I like everything about this place, be it the food or the interiors. The cost ia bit high but the good taste of food makes up for it.
Considering that Cacuttal's always been known for some really excellent Chinese cuisine, I was really looking forward to this, but RHCP sadly did not live up to expectations; service was slow, the decor and ambiance gone too far towards 'cozy' and ending up being merely dark and slightly depressing... but worst of all is the AC - it's like sitting in a refrigerator. I'd expect that level of air-conditioning in an open-barbecue place. I got a headache after a point, shivering in the cold, peering in the dim light, and finding my food going cold before I have a chance to get halfway through it. Food was decent, but they really need to pick up the ambiance. It's like a slightly shady Mumbai bar.
Being someone who is extremely fond of Chinese food, I am always looking for an excuse to visit a Chinese restaurant. This time it was a friend's birthday and we visited RHCP for dinner. Considering the location of the restaurant, with parking space, RHCP is most of the time crowded. We ordered soup for starters and the main course consisted of noodles, vegetable manchurian and another side dishes.
The order we placed was fairly simple, but it literally took hours for the food to reach our table. The decor isn't great and the food is expensive. I wouldn't visit it too often unless its a birthday treat again :)
With the recent expansion of the restaurant, the whole dining experience has drastically improved. The food is (and always was) excellent. The American Baby Corn and Pan Fried Chilli Chicken are excellent as starters. And for the main course, my personal favorite is the Crispy Pork in Plum sauce. Nothing to write home about as far as the desserts go but their bar is quite extensive.
Overall, its one of the best chinese restaurants in the city. Food and service are both par excellence!
Last year as part of The Telegrapg Birthday bash on 7 July'08 they had offered many goodies to its contest winner. among them , Rs 1000 Food Coupon of lunch @ Red Hot Chilli Pepper was the best experience i'd with my friend with starter pack, main course and finally its desert too !
Really a Great place to feel the foody delight in Kolkata Ballygunge area with Chinese flavour with authencity !!!
Ah! Our first date location as far as I remember! And Chinese food as always keeps attracting me towards themselves, be it a road-side joint or a 5 Star, but on our date, we wanted to taste something different. Thus our friends suggested this exotic "gulping" zone at the Ballygunge Circular Road and off we went to paradise. "Dazzling" is one word I could think off- right from the entrance, till the point we payed our bills and left, we were treated as royal guests and with the special touch to every Chinese dish, the significance of the moment was magnified. I still remember the Golden Delight and the chopsey that has left a permanent mark in my taste buds! And make no mistake, I am all in for another sweet experience at the RHCP this Pujas :D
This is one of my most favourite places to have chinese. All the Chinese cuisine are awesome starting from dimsum to drumsticks to chows. Ambiance is also good. You can also opt for take away. I have been there a number of times and I love number of dishes of this place. I love their Chicken wanton soup. Their delivery is also on time and perfect.
