Anant Ashram

Best place to have Seafood, Gomantak, Maharashtrian and Malwani food. It is a no nonsense place with small separate marble tables, situated at a heritage vicinity at Kothachiwadi, Girgaum. The food is prepared on wood and charcoal fire and the taste and quality is just mind blowing. Nowhere in Mumbai one can get such tasty food. Even foreigners make it a point to go in the bylanes, find the place and return much satisfied.

The place is awesome.... Its like a trip down memory lane. with quaint houses all around you and a small board announcing the place....

The food here is delicious... They have no fixed menu and serve the fresh catch of the day..... Make sure you go early as they run out of most of the stuff.....

They service staff is very rude, which add to the charm of the place...

This name definately brings nostalagia amongst the senior citizens who must have resided in the his old girgam area many years back. my father told me about this place and i must have eaten there so many times. The food is homely, delicious and value for money. The ambience is basic not changed i am sure for many years. The fish fry, and fish curry and sole kadhi simply gr8. The style of cooking is i think sarswat, goan mix.

I have been to Anant Ashram a few times. Their food is always excellent. Prawns, Clams, Chicken, Mutton, Crab is good, but the best dish on the menu is surely the Shark Masala. It always manages to be bang on the money. The fried fish is tasty as well but you usually will get only one type of fish be it - Seer Fish or King Fish or Pomfret. Their fish curry is nice too. I am sorry to say vegetarians will have only - Bhaji, Ussal and Dal as options.
Their service is legendary. The Khadpe's are very poor at entertaining their customers. They are consistently rude to say the very least.
