  • Street Food ...Restaurant Prices... Mar 31, 2014

    Mumbai circa 1999.

College kid on pocket money, illegal driving license, Hyundai santro, cuffe and colaba girls, hungry... or just wanna hang out ?

Is it between 6pm to 3am?

Then head to Ayubs on cuffe parade....aloo , paneer, or mushroom roll, or on a plate maybe , occasionally babycorn, ranging from 20 to 35 rs. 2 rolls and are full.......and did I mention the cuffe girls...

    Fast Forward to 2014.

Rich affluent Gujarati? Cool car....love to hangout with other cool affluent mainly eggetarian types, no later than 130 am thanks to the dead

Late night street food in SoBo = Ayub's & Bade Miyan

Sure enough, it is not uncommon to see the place engulfed by cars during late evenings right up the night, even post 1 am. Though they have a tiny sitting area within, people prefer to sit in their cars or stand outside and enjoy the food, as it can get pretty hot and stuffy inside due to the heat from the grills and barbecue.

I've been eating at Ayub's since the days when rolls used to start at Rs.50. Those were the simple Aloo Rolls and the Aloo Bhurji Roll. For some reason, I have always preferred Ayub's over Bade Miyan's

  • Best Rolls and VFM Jan 04, 2014

Ayub’s located exactly behind Rhythm House, to my experience offers one of the best Rolls and Kababs in Mumbai. Happen to visit this place incidentally... as my “once-upon-a-time-favorite” place was completely crowded and we did not get a seat even after waiting for 30 mins... so we decided to give this place a try. And I am glad we did that. Paneer and Chicken kathi rolls offered here just melt into your mouth. I especially love their spicy and tangy chutneys which they offer with their rolls. They are much better in taste and much-less priced in comparison to Bade Miya. Just give it a shot whenev... read more

Exactly what my title says. Although, these rolls are quite delicious and I love the fact they are open late.. I always order one paneer and one aloo roll, and can devour these in 5 minutes! However, for those not used to spice... be very careful. Last time I had these, I loved them but they definitely were super Spicy!! I have a high spice tolerance, and I downed 2 bottles of water. (Well, at least this helped me consume more water, start sobering up, and woke up the next without a hangover!)
