  • Commercialised South Indian Fare"

    It was the perfect ocassion to visit a South Indian joint..on the Kerala new year festival of Vishu..checked out the place with family..Banana Leaf had a lot of hype attached to it..there is a good amount of word of mouth for the place..
    The entrance facade was quite impressive..with more than adequate waiting space..(which is needed on weekends).. the captain was polite and ensured that we got a sofa seat as we were with an infant..
    The menu was quite elaborate with an entire page worth of dishes devoted to dosas, uttapas (the tomato sev uttapa is worth a try), idlis each.

  • It is slipping

    I sincerely loved this joint and have been regular over here.
    But now the success seems to have gone to the owners head.
    must improve items are bise belle bhath, roasted uttapams, thali is pathetic. my humble advise to these guys would be VISIT BANGALORE (adigas/ ctr/brahmins coffee bar). you guys need to collect your act together.

    YOUR WAITERS NEED TO LEARN SOME MANNERS.
    SOME GUYS JUST ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOU.
    ONE OF THEM WHILE PAYING MY BILL JUST STOOD LOOKING AT THE TABLE TO SEE HOW MUCH TIP I AM LEAVING. OF COURSE I DIDNT PAY HIM A DIME.

  • Good food but overly priced

    I went with my wife and masi (mother's sister) for dinner to this lace since my masi likes South Indian food. We ordered for 3 dishes between the three of us:
    1. Vagharela Idli Poriyal - we wanted to order some Masala Mini Idli, but the waiter suggested we go for the Idli Poriyal. It was nice, but the quantity was a little too less for the price they charged for it. There were only 6 pieces (medium sized) for Rs. 110.

    Banana Leaf doesn't care about its customers. Last night, when I went out with my friend and had a thali and a pulichhe sadam (tamarind rice), we had our worst ever dining experience. The rasam was awful, no self respecting South Indian would like it. Ditto with the Avial. The pulichesadam was way too spicy and when we told the head waiter so, he just shrugged and told us that we should have told him so after we had the first spoon.
