  • A bit too random 2012-04-18

Went with a couple of friends on a Tuesday evening for some Goan food and a couple of drinks.

Nice place with comfortable seats but the glass top of the table was loose and quite a number of mozzies inside which isn't a good sign - but maybe it is trying to be really authentic...

Unfortunately, what really lets this place down is the randomness of the menu.

They don't exactly have an extensive menu and it was just on a photocopy. We ordered some starters off the menu, which they didn't have, a bottle of wine, which they didn't have. The waiter made some suggestions of

  • A saviour on valentines day!! 2012-02-15

entered this restaurant because of the unprofessional behaviour of balthazar who just cancelled reservation without any notice saying that there was a technical error which erased all the reservations.

Dont wana waste more time mentioning balthazar...so coming to cafe goa...really cozy place with a nice dim ambience which was nicely set up for valentines...as it is also called as the wine den...they had good selection of wines..we started of with 2 merlons...which was served nice and chilled..!!!!

Then came the appetizers...the first was the butter garlic prawns....very good

  • Nice cozy place with good Goan food 2011-12-08

I went to this place on a Tuesday evening. it was relatively empty at 8.00 and then started to get full.
Its a nice cozy place for a couple or even a small group of up to 6. The music is good and not too loud so one can a have conversation too without shouting into the others' ears.
They have a decent wine list, but was surprised when I got a "cold" wine (Shiraz). Have had Shiraz (red wine) a ton of times before but never this cold. It seemed like it came right out the fridge. That was the only downer for me.

We ordered Goan food -- and it was pretty good.

  • The place is huuuuuge 2011-02-25

    Huge
    Very limited Menu
Tasty food - Sausage chilli fry with Poyee (a goan variant of the humble pao), Stuffed Prawn Papad, sorpotel,
Attentive waiters (maybe because we were the only people there on a Thursday night)
And yes the bebinca was very very good.....
We were there for a farewell .... 4 of us, 2 rounds of drinks for 2, 2 rounds of redbull for the other 2, 2 rounds of starters, main course and some dessert = Rs.3600/-

  • Cosy, authentic & friendly place 2011-01-24

Absolutely love this place.. Its cosy and has the authentic Goan touch to it. The owners Carl & T.C. are friendly and ever-willing to accept any suggestions/ideas of their guests.

Dishes I recommend are the Goa Sausage chilli fry with Poyee, Stuffed Prawn Papad, Crumb Fried Bombay ducks, Alfredo Chicken Pasta and Garlic bread.

Drinks I recommend are the choco-tini, cosmopolitan and feni margarita. You can also ask the bartender Shawn to whip-up a new cocktail and surprise you!!

  • A LOT LIKE GOA 2010-08-02

Well to start with this is my first review , hope it does any good , It was my 3rd anniversary with my girlfriend . She is a Goan ,we wanted to try something more traditional . We eat fish and meat at home , so just wanted to see how does it stands to our homemade food !! , the place is perfectly located in midtown Bandra , It looks like a small dingy place , but when you enter , its a wonderland , wooden interior with candles , strong wooden tables and golden lights flowing with the freshness of the restaurant brightened up our evening , we settled for a table and were greeted with flowers... read more

  • No Honour 2010-06-22

My friends had already ordered a pitcher of beer and had half of it when I got there (Fosters). My first reaction was "Did you guys order hefeweizen?" It was turbid enough to be wheat beer. I raised my concern about the safety of my friends, but the manager's reply was "They drank most of it, so they have to pay". Screw the payment, they can get sick...do not serve spoilt beer to anyone! I offered to pay for the beer as long as they did not serve it to anyone. They, shamelessly agreed. Enough said. Pity that I liked this place. Im a biologist, I know when a beer has a bacterial culture growing... read more

  • Ambience - Thats it!!!! 2010-03-03

After hearing a lot from friends, 2 of us went for good ambience and great food ( as friends had mentioned). Ambience was just perfect and amazing, dim lit lights and comfortable chairs really looks very inviting.
We ordered Vodka and Whiskey Sour with Mushroom starter.. Even before we complete our drinks the staff served main course which was really a turn-off. We had ordered Chicken Goan curry, Veg Goan Curry and 2 steam rice... The quantity of the food was very less as compared to the price they charge.
And the taste of the food was just okeish.. Nothing too great abt it.
    Just anoth

  • Nice Ambience, but Terrible Service & Average Food 2010-02-22

We were a group of 10 people that visited Cafe Goa. The service was absolutely terrible. Though there were 3-4 waiters hovering around the place, not one came to our table till we yelled out to them. We complained to the manager about the service, but it was still poor throughout the meal. Overall, its a badly managed place. Also, the delivery of the food was mistimed wherein we ended up getting a main course for 1 person along with the starters. The food was strictly ok - I liked the goa chilly sausage. The tenderloin burger was good. Wouldn't recommend the pork vindaloo. The only saving grace... read more
