  • A Lovely Dinner at Mangii 2012-05-19

We went to Cafe Mangi - Powai for our anniversary dinner a month back. Mangi has 2 seating options – Open-Air café as well as an Indoor Dining one. The Open-Air café has a lovely setting with orange lights, a few bushes & Cane (Cane like if I remember correctly) seating but Mangi is located too close to the highway so it’s quite dusty. Hence we opted to dine Indoor. Indoor, the seating is quite spaced out & I found the lighting to be a bit too dim but it did not hamper our dining experience in anyway.

We started with their basket of house breads with the quintessential olive oil + balsami

  • Worst dining expereince ever 2012-05-08

I went there couple of weeks back and I am kicking myself for not posting it earlier.
It all started badly when I handed over the keys to my car to the valet, without any regard to the stationary auto behind and the beeping reverse parking sensor the guy rammed my new car into the auto and when i confronted him (as this happened in front of my eyes, leading to a huge dent and scrath on the rear bumper), he tried to put the blame on the autowala. I had to intervene to save my car from the angry auto wala. There was no one from the management on the scene for almost 10 minutes. Finally the guy

  • Dinning Experience 2012-05-03

The prompt service, muted ambiance added to the distinct flavours of the herbs used liberally in the soup, fondue, pizzas & pastas. Loved the 'near chapatti like thinness' of the spicy, chesseless Fressca.
Worth the trouble Experience, much better than the over-rated Names in Hiranandani. GOOD FOOD... Ding-Dong

  • Café Mangii-Breakfast…Quite a bumpy meal.. 2012-05-01

A close to chilly morning was inviting enough for 4 course breakfast at the popular Italian joint –Café Mangii bang opposite the Powai Lake.
Having visited this place earlier for dinner, I quite knew what I was getting into….or so I thought cause there were some surprises.
Freshly squeezed juice (read packaged juice) was the first disappointment…cause packaged juice isn’t freshly squeezed juice is it??
Choice breakfast cereal/corn flakes and wheat flakes with cold milk. Nothing extra ordinary in that except I would have preferred the cereal with real fruits which was not available.... read more

  • Sad experience ... again ! 2012-04-28

After the mouth watering food sampling experience at Cafe Mangii Versova, I could not but give this place another shot. Last January I had a terrible experience just after they opened the outlet and after a year, I would have expected that they have got the act right - especially being part of the best Italian Restaurant (Khar outlet) in Mumbai, where after years of regular visit I have not been dissapointed yet.

We wanted to have our favorite, two of the best dishes we had at Versova - Fusilli Mamma Rossa and Lasagna. Both were such a dissapointment and nowhere close in taste or texture

  • Rekindling my love for Italy 2012-04-10

I have been off Italian food for a while preferring the robust flavour of Thai food. But my god, Cafe Mangi picked me up and plopped me right back in my Italian loving zone...The pizza was like having little slices of heaven. I ordered the Greque salad (Yeah, its not italian) and it was yummmm..nice creamy feta and delicious chunks of veggies. We sunk our teeth into some delicious baked cheesecake and a chocolate hazelnut cake and the flavour makes you go a little cuckoo. You will want to get up and launch into an impromptu performance. The staff was great as well.
    PS: They have this garlic,

  • One thing missing 2012-04-06

Visited for the first time after hearing some colleagues rave about it. Had excellent pasta, though a little heavy on the sauce. My son, a pizza connoisseur, went gaga over the pizza, not to mention the creme brulee. The only disappointment was the substandard cappuccino (for one thing, did not have steamed milk, was more like a bad cafe latte). Any Italian restaurant worth its name should have good Italian coffee.

  • Never Again 2012-03-31

I went in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. An order of eggs took more than half an hour. The restaurant had only 2 other tables with customers. Pathetic service. Waiters seem completely indifferent and unapologetic for the delay. Finally walked out. Second consecutive bad experience at Mangii. The last time they had served us a stale tiramisu. Used to be a decent restaurant. But its gone all the way down to the bottom.

  • Deteriorating! 2012-03-23

I was a regular here and there was a time when I would have given this restaurant 5 stars. But I have been noticing a downward trend in terms of ingredient quality and preparation during my visits in the last 3 months. Dishes are made unnecessarily cheesier and creamier hiding the authentic flavors. The wood fired pizzas are pretty good though and the service standards have still been maintained. The music gets too loud to be able to have a decent conversation. But that has always been the case. I hope the management at Mangii takes notice of their shortcomings and bring back their high standards... read more

  • Italy in Powai 2012-03-22

We had Cafe Mangii on our list for quite some time. Unfortunately, whenever we tried visiting the Khar outlet, we met with rejection due to long waiting or private parties. Then one day we decided to visit the Powai one. Little did we know that it would have us hooked! I usually like to try out new places every time we go out, and I rarely visit a restaurant more than twice. Cafe Mangii has been an exception.

It's a wonderful feeling to be seated outside in open air (provided you can ignore the din of the traffic) and be served with care and affection. Yes, their service levels have gone
