Based on the rave reviews I'd been hearing and reading about CPK, a friend and I decided to see for ourselves what the hype was all about. The decor and service are both excellent, but once you get to the food, it's all downhill from there. By the end of the meal, I was left pondering two possibilities - nobody I know has standards when it comes to food, or we just got plain unlucky on the day.
The meal started off on a sour note when we were given flat Pepsi after having asked for Coke. The Moroccan Salad and Adobe Chicken Chowder provided some form of redemption but that was short-lived. The Santa Fe Chicken pizza sounded interesting but it looked nothing like we thought it would, much less taste anything like it. The thin crust base tasted under-cooked, there were exactly two small pieces of grilled chicken on each slice and I had to strain my taste buds to look for a hint of cheese. We didn't even bother thinking about dessert.
A bout of food poisoning since the meal leaves no prizes for guessing one place I'll never be eating at again.
