I've been to many outlets of Costa, from Juhu to Khar to Lower Parel to Powai and Vashi. Some have been consistently good, others give Costa a bad name. When I first saw Costa on Central Avenue Rd - easily Chembur's busiest and most popular road, I was thrilled. We've lived with Barista and CCD for over a decade. Barista -not bad. CCD, don't even get me started. Chembur so needed a Costa. Thank you God! But I was worried that Costa, Chembur would not live up to some of its stellar cousins. I walked into Costa early morning, and it was breathtakingly beautiful. Even though I got there in the early hours, a couple of customers had trickled in. The cafe is divided into an al-fresco section and an AC section, I chose to sit inside. The ambiance is nice and clean, a photocopy of any other Costa outlet, so is the pricing. So my judging parameters were mainly the service, and well, the coffee. The guy at the counter was sweet and quick to take my order. My sandwich was nice and fresh and my coffee, divine! There is a general misconception that Costa is expensive. Wait, a cup of coffee at Barista is almost a hundred bucks. Costa is pretty much the same. And CCD is not in the reckoning (given its mediocre coffee and pathetic service). So I hope my fellow Chemburites and school friends read this, and I hope to bump into them at Costa soon.
