So it was Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings this past weekend at Wankhede Churchgate and this was a last minute option to go in for good dinner after a few drinks at the Sports Bar Cafe next to Regal Cinema.
Ambiance:
A wait of 30 minutes and I was telling myself that the food better justify that wait period. We were 7 people and we got a table for 6. No place for an extra chair in the gangway, which is just about 2 feet wide. The place smelled kinda weird to me. it was like stale milky rubbery smell. Just weird. Lighting was just about OK.
Food:
We called for their mutton Seekh Kebabs and boy oh boy! Never had them this good before. Next was a special of Murg Nargis. Orangish gravy with capsicum, shredded chicken and lots of ginger. Again, definitely not disappointed. Their rumali rotis were to die for and I haven't had softer rumalis like this before. Their Chicken Tikka Biryani was something I had 3 servings of and was good! Just that the chicken was a little too dry and there was no raita served with the biryani, which was weird. Meal ended with 2 caramel custards. They just melted in the mouth and weren't too sweet and were just right. Maybe it needed a little more milk which would've made it even better, but good nonetheless
Service:
Quite slow. And it was justified. The number of people is just too high for 1 captain to manage and 3 helpers to serve the food around. Food usually takes about 20 minutes to come to your table. Call for extra rotis before hand. Might as well have a cold-ish roti than to wait for 10-15 minutes for the fresh roti to arrive at the table.
Overall, definitely not disappointed. The Chicken Nargis and the Rumali roti were the perfect combination, alongwith the Mutton Seekh Kebabs with Rumali Roti and their mint chutney.
