Me, my sis & 2 friends went to Gajalee on 1st April 2011. We started off with Tandoori Crabs; I have heard ppl raving about tandoori crab. I must say the crab was cooked well, the tandoori masala was lip smacking delicious, but TANDOORI + CRAB is not the combo to have!!! the tandoori favor overpowers the crab & having eaten a lot of crab before, I could make that out. However, for crab first timers, ull love it. Well, for the price( small crab- Rs 1300 in april), its not worth it. portions are good. 3.5/5
Next we ordered surmai curry, prawns masala, butter roti & rice.
Prawns masala - way tooo much coconut in it. just too much. It was not spicy & flavorsome as we expected it to be. 2/5
Surmai curry(boneless)- was good, really good but lukewarm. 4/5
Sol kadi - yumm!! However, Surprising SPICY. Chilled n SPICY. Must try id say. 4/5
Had a very forgettable chicken masala/curry dish.
Ambience- 4/5
Food Variety - 4/5 lots of seafood too choose from
Hospitality - 5/5 ( They were veryyyyyy courteous & paid attention to the tiniest detail.. loved it)
All in all, a place to spend a blissful afternoon having sunday afternoon lunch or dinner.
Their wine list was vast.. too bad I dont have the tastebuds for that. Didn't try desert. However, I would def visit gajalee again & try to have their other specialties.
3 sol kadis + 1 small tandoori crab (smaller of the 2 but hUGE) + chicken masala + surmai curry (boneless) + prawns masala + 4 rotis + 1 steamed rice + 3 butter rotis = Rs 2695
Ho Hum..
