Terrific memories, good place. 2011-01-20
I am sure there are better restaurants and better food to be found in Powai...but this was back in 2000 when me and my wife were just married and used to live in Mr Sharma's tastefully decorated one bedroom outhouse in the Bhawani Towers compound. We used to frequent Gary's a lot, and would find the food pretty good. Used to love the prawn biryani there. Its a cozy place, the owner was always around, sipping his drink behind the counter, and sometimes making conversation. Well i went to Gary's menu last night , one of my friends staying in powai recommended this place after reading the reviews online.
But to be frank didnt quite enjoy the experience. Have definately had much better chicken tandoori at other places . Though liked the starter named "crispy wings of heaven". and even "veg crispy" was good.
Then we moved on to the main course and well we had ordered paneer tikka masala and Gary's Special Chicken . paneer tikka masala was strictly okay and Gary's Special chicken was horrible.

Mom and Pop show 2008-05-02
Spent many a evenings having dinner at this cozy shack during my IIT days. Its expensive by student standards. Not very when you start earning :-)
Uncle who runs the place is fun. Can be usually seen sipping his drink in a steel glass. If he is not around, his wife is running the place. She is warm too.
Chicken Tandoori was my fav here.
Deliver in and around Hiranandani and Powai. -

Go here just for Gary 2006-12-12
Gary - the Owner of the restaurant makes it a MUST VISIT. His real name's Ghulam and he's been all over the place - Japan etc. This restaurant was one of our favorites during IIT Days. Seeing the name here brings back fond memories. Great preparation, good conversation and nice outdoor seating in what used to be then - quaint Hiranandani. Order the Chicken Afghani Pulao - It's nice!! -
