Global Village was one of those things I wanted to do since the time it opened up.. and since it was an offering from the same people who had an Open Affair with food next door, this one was a must and we finally got in late on a Monday night.
At first, the setting looked nice - contemporary furniture, chinese flower curve impressions, bright silvers and pinks, a pinch of buddha and a red lamp straight from a psychic reader's office - all crushed together to form the ambience.
We scored a table to proceed with our dinner. The music was severely compromised by the ear-spanking loop of Himeshbhai (wtf) which was being enjoyed by some guests on a private table (supposed to be the guests of the owners of the place). These personal guests of the owners were also privileged to enjoy a drink but when sensed that we missed the beverage menu and asked for, we came to know that the place does not serve no drinks to guests. Letdown.
The food did not disappoint us though.. the starters were decent but the Secondi courses were more exciting than the starters followed by malai kulfi we had to end the dinner.
Service was strange, alternating between a polite server & another who seemed to hate life. The serving staff gathered around us with serving trays held closely to their chest as if asking permission to leave - we had to ask them to leave us alone while we finish our dinner.
Overall, if they sort themselves up a bit - they should do a lot better.
