The food is awesome, ambience is warm & beautiful.the gesture that touched me the most was the effort the staff took to get me a surprise birthday cake in such short notice really efficient staff .looking forward to visit this place again very soon.

  • Good as ever 2011-12-19

Went to Golden Dragon yesterday for a meal with the family. As usual the food was great and the service was up to the mark. The place was extremely busy on Sunday, but nevertheless we were lucky and got a table on walking in. The raw materials such as Tofu that they use are always fresh and tasty. Golden Dragon was and continues to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the city.

  • Eternal favorite! 2011-12-13

Golden has been and remains on of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Mumbai. The service is wonderful. we usually have Elvis serving us, who has been with the restaurant for over a decade and he is a delight. His suggestions are spot on.
A dish i love which is not on the menu but I get on request is fish in mustard sauce. The golden prawns are classic, please try them everyone.
Decor is clean, modern without being stark. Now don't go in expecting Mainland china, 5 spice, etc kind of fare and menu, it is the Taj after all :)

To me this restaurant is the definitive indicator of all food oriental. You dont go to the Taj for service - you go for the food. And boy, does GD deliver???! Heck, yeah!!!

Leave out the alcohol, skip the dimsums (unless ur so rich that you dont mind paying serious money for for what is essentially a dumpling in a rice paste coating). As a veg, the crispy fried veges are nice but the tofu and shitake dishes are even better. I havent tasted better hakka noodles anywhere else - they are not on the menu so you need to push and ask for them. The all new look menu spoils a veg for choice

I love the food here, loved since I was 8. Their tempura is amazing, stir fried veggies good, peking duck is alright but the beef is out this world. They are extremely polite but then again maybe its because we frequent the place often. Love the ambience, love everything about it. It gives me that nostalgic feeling...will be sometime till I can actually feel ok about going back but will do in the near future.

  • utterly disappointed 2007-05-24

was there last december to celebrate my brothers wedding. All dishes have egg and then don't tell you that upfront. Non-egg menu is restricted to just 1 or 2 items. Good mocktails. Lousy mohito & ice tea. Very limited menu. No new soups or anything even remotely exotic

Kamling, china garden, china valley (powai) & chopsticks beat this any day of the week.

    Wayyy overrated.

    Never going back.

  • could be better being the taj! 2007-04-19

golden dragon according to me is totally over-rated.
2 freinds and i went for lunch a couple of days ago..

restaurant was empty at 1:30 pm.
ordered starters - some dimsum and some other stuff which took around 20 minutes to arrive.. some of them you could not even call dim sum..
the service was slow and un attentive... i was seated at a non-smoking table and i lit up a ciggy unknowingly and they just let me smoke away..no questions asked untill i asked for an ashtray which is when they stopped me...

main course was slightly better.. the pomfret in the sweet

  • still good 2007-03-30

Was there last night for some quick chow. almost went to Henry Tham but pulled out.

Now, no reservations but they did give us a table no problem. We were hungry so we skipped the soups though there were a few i would have liked.

We went for the stuffed mushroom in garlic sauce (oh hell yeah, crazy good) the onion pancake (not bad but Oriental Blossom does them better)the main course was noodles with cashews and chilly (great) but the peanut sauce and veggies were terrible. made me unhappy and i lamented not picking something schezwan consdiering its their specialty.

  • fairly authentic, amazing ambiance 2007-03-14

Was here recently for a work-related dinner and was blown away by the authentic Chinese ambiance of the restaurant. Everything from the ornate doorway to the seating, it screams Chinese.

I started with an order of scallop dim sum and found the scallops to be a bit on the chewy side (perhaps a little overcooked), although the entire package was quite tasty. Ordered a Schezuan mushroom dish with some vegetable fried rice for dinner and they were the perfect compliment to each other.

All in all, the service is fantastic, the ambiance excellent, the food is great. Being the
