  • Hari bolo! 2012-04-25

Have been going to Govindas for over a decade now, and the current avatar of the place is a far cry from what it used to be previously, ie right below the ISKCON auditorium. Those were the amazing Govinda days, where the spread & ambience was lavish! The overall atmosphere of that old resto is still unbeatable. Reason for upgrading: growing popularity!
Cut to now, spread over a much bigger plot the spread quality has definitely gone. But at Rs.330 a thali on weekdays and Rs.380 on Sundays(this is the biggie with 56 items!!), with daily breakfast at around Rs.150 it is still unmatched! If you

  • Good Food 2012-02-24

Good Place for veg quality food. Given to understand that the vegs used are organically grown buy the Iskcon Pandits. Buffet is largely spread out, varieties in kaman dhoklas are good, drinks are nice more like smallshot glasses
Good Price - but can get bit noisy on the weekends with huge families flocking the place.

  • No Krishna at Govinda's anymore 2010-11-08

Went for a family lunch on Bhai Dooj, One word describes the experience , Ghastly, I would not pay 100 for this Thali. Used to be a big fan, been pretty much regular for nearly 22 years, but this time we went after a long gap, Service Horrible, No one gives a damn about you, It is like a langar, only difference is you are paying for it, all dishes taste the same, the farsan was acceptable, Dahi Kadhi was great, Thai Curry (HA HA HA), Can you imagine a Thai Curry with Peas and Paneer. The Rotis were Good, but what do you eat them with. In the era of health foods, all they can think of is Paneer... read more

  • Pathetic is not the word 2010-09-25

Can you image seeing rodents in the food you eat at such a place where they do not even serve onion garlic? I had rodents in my Kheer and this was the experience I was least expecting at Govindas! The quality of food has gone down drastically but they have raised the price, they serve pathetic almost tasteless parathas. Strawberry dhoklas anyone? This is some stupid innovation of thier chefs. The Govindas special halwa was even more pathetic, all watery. The Gulab Jamuns are thier all time favorite--will be on thier menu everyday. The only thing I liked was the biryani, but I would pay Rs 300 for... read more

  • Completely satiated! 2009-09-21

This is a strictly vegetarian affair and one that will leave you completely full and satisfied to the core. For Rs. 270 per person you can eat as much as you can from the wide vast spread of food made from shudh ghee and that too prepared without onion, garlic. This is the prasadam offered to the God at the Iskcon temple and is truly lip smacking. And while there is the puri, paneer, aloo methi subzi, papad kadhi, yellow dal, pulao there is also pasta, noodles, manchurian vying for all your attention.
Besides there are several rounds of drinks like buttermilk, jal jeera, mango panna, kokum

Have you heard the above phrase??? Now, you can experience it too.. only at Govindas where you will see variety which you cannot even eat... Just like a wedding hall, this vegetarian restaurant provides a grand buffet... A paradise for all the vegetarians (and all of this without garlic and onion, hard to believe??)

Worth going in the summers to have the yummy aamras.. it couldnt have been better....:D

Reasonable priced: Around 250 + tax per head..
Huge place so dont have to wait for a table..

Food is good but place is over crowded, noisy & like any ordinary dining hall or marriage party. BIG NO for some one who needs peaceful & classy ambience.

  • Thali of 45 items 2008-12-28

The place with excellent buffet provides 45 items including the welcome drinks, main course and sweet dishes. the welcome drinks included chaas, jal jeera, some kind of fruit drink. The food without onion and garlic tasted so yummy and to forget the dal ka halwa in the end was the best and all this at a very reasonable rate. Overall it was a wonderful experience of traditional food.
