It is nice to once come across a restaurant that not just meets your expectations, but surpasses it. After getting good first-person reviews about Grillopolis from various friends, I decided to check out if it was really that good.
And I am happy to report that i have joined the league of people who like it and will make it a regular haunt.
Firstly, Grillopolis is spacious and I mean really spacious with a lot of room between tables on the first level. I did not opt for the buffet preferring to check out the a la carte menu. While the items are very limited (we were assured that over 60 new dishes are being added to this year-old menu shortly), the beverages list was much better.
The grilled Tiger Prawns with garlic sauteed in lemon was very succulent. Impressed I decided to have the bassa fish, which I was told is imported from Vietnam. The fish was cooked perfectly (it was not too hard, nor too squishy), the flavoring was suspiciously similar to the prawns. There was a tad too much lemon in the fish, but luckily it did not affect the bassa's flavor.
The Beer Canned Chicken was a treat. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The mashed potatoes though was a wash out - it was watery!!!
But the service was nice and the DJ spun a string of retro music which was soothing and foot tapping at the same time. And strangely, despite it being a Friday, the place was not crowded, which is a mercy.
This is definitely going to be my regular eating joint, for sure.

My apologies for responding to your review a little late. I am delighted that you found us worthy of being made a regular haunt. The a la carte menu, which was rather limited, has undergone a major makeover and from the coming monday shall be as inviting and comely as you would expect it to. We have taken a while to put it together, but we wanted to get it right and a lot of feedbacks and application has gone into making it what it would now be. Do try it out and do let us know what you think of it. I have noted your comment on the mashed potatoes and they will surely loose their water soon enough. No puns intended. Hope to see you back at Grillopolis soon!
