Hang Out is a very misnomer for this shop, because there is NOTHING to "hang out". No seating, no table. Its not somewhere you & your buddies can go & "hang out" over a cup of coffee or share a pastry with you special ones. Nothing of that sort.
It is a cake shop. Period.
Having frequented this particular branch at Vile Parle (W), due to its proximity to the station & the last minute rushes to fetch a cake for our celebration, I can now make a statement or two.
Its a cake shop, so lets cut some slack & get to point.
1st of all: Brownie points:- for being a cake shop that makes solely EGGLESS cakes. Yes, ALL CAKES ARE EGGLESS. So rejoice & fear not, hesitate not! (1/2 Star extra for this)
They have a really wide variety of cakes, decent according to normal standards, but a far cry from other options like Merwan's.
Worth mention: Dutch Truffle, Ferrero Rocher, Chocolate Exotica, Pineapple Truffle.
They take advance orders, no Home Delivery & usually have all the standard varieties i.e. 1/2 kg, 1 kg etc. Pastries also available.
About the cakes: Soft, spongy, very tasty especially for being eggless cakes.
Icing & frosting: Usually thick, creamy, moderately sweet & bitter according to the flavour. A few cakes though, especially the weird chocolate varieties can be over sweet.
Pricing: Reasonable. Depending on the Type of cake. 450/- Rs. onwards for a 1kg cake.
Negative marks: For a BAD BAD variety of Candles. Horrible. Disastrous!
and ALSO for NOT stocking Plastic Knives.
Packing: Okay. They did thoughtfully add the tissues & plastic spoons. But could be better.
Service: Reasonably well. Courteous, no problems with the orders, aware of options & availability.
Overall: Reasonably decent place. Almost everyone like the cakes. They may not go "ooh-la-la" or "yummmmy", but if you are in a rush or havent planned out a party too well, or you know, just once in a while. Its a decent option worth considering.
