I had the misfortune of having lunch at the restaurant recently. I have the following points to mention here as follows:
1. When I inquired about Howrah, I was told that Howrah & Zaffran was the same, though different boards were displayed. I realized later that one half of the entire premises (may be that houses Howrah) was under renovation.
2. When I asked for Menu, I was handed over Zaffran Menu. When I asked for Howrah Menu, I was handed over one. One could have easily told that Howrah is not functional.

Howrah is located inside Zaffran near Crawford market.. so i guess the management is the same. I've been here a few times but have only had the thaali. Reason being, their kitchen is under renovation ( Since 2 months?); so only thaali is available. The non veg thaali has 3 fixed dishes i.e rui macher jhol, chicken, jhol , dal served with 3 luchis and rice. The only dish that is different is one veg item and ofcourse the sweet - which is usually either the gulab jamun or rossogolla. The food is undoubtedly good, simple and filling. We were in the Crawford Market/Lohar Chawl area. Oddly, despite having Mumbai’s largest market, this area has an almost no eating places worth their salt. Yes there are a few in the Zaveri Bazaar/Kalbadevi area [Bhagat Tarachand et al]. It was lunch time and we got hungry. I Remembered that we had once gone to Howrah, a Bengali restaurant which was open air and on the 1st floor. So we thought why not.
