we went to kebab korner to celebrate my mother's birthday. It was a special occasion and the staff just ruined the evening for us.To start with our server Jaspal did not know how to maintain a professional distance with us. Imagine being told that we should not order a platter of kebabs as 'it would be expensive for us'! Absurd.
The food was decent, nothing to write home about. At the end of the meal, we asked the server to bring out a special cake that was made specially for my mother. The same server Jaspal brought out one of the standard cakes that the restaurant serves. at first we thought that this was a mistake, however he insisted that no outside cakes were allowed to be cut in their restaurant as it was hotel policy!
We had informed them at the time of booking AND when we entered. Infact one of the waiters took the cake inside and kept it in their fridge. and suddenly they went back on their word and did nothing about it.
We paid the bill and walked out of the restaurant without cutting the birthday cake. The restaurant manager was not present to solve this issue, and our celebratory mood was ruined for the evening.
We spoke to the manager of the hotel who was present even till quite late, and heard us out patiently. He even called the next day and apologized and offered a complimentary meal for 4 to make up for the fiasco. Which shows how some people in the hotel truly understand customer service while others like the waiters at Kebab Korner knw nothing. Unfortunately for us, a birthday comes once a year and the occasion was ruined.
If you are willing to risk ruining your evening, then by all means visit this place. stay away on special occasions. For most of us, the entire experience left a bad taste and we'll stick to the better options like Marine Plaza a block down the road that goes out of its way on special occasions.
