i am surprised that the reviews posted by most people for Kinara are mostly negative or unfavorable!!! I wish to clarify that Kinara is the best place to go for dinner with big groups considering the tasty VFM food and more importantly the liquor which they serve as per NIP and Full Bottle pricing. The place is on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway and makes perfect long drive getaway for folks from Mumbai like us. I have been there about 6-7 times in the last one year alone. Earlier the prices were very low but now with the increase in food inflation and other factors they have hiked prices but it still is reasonable.
Must haves: Paneer Lasuni Tikka is just awesome. So is the cheese tikka, paneer manchurian dry and chicken manchurian dry. The chicken kebabs are nice too and so are the veg and chicken schezwan fingers Mostly everything at kinara is tasty and rarely any complaint about the quality of food. Quantity is nice too. The main course has lots of variety for non veg in chicken mutton and sea food. Even the veggies have lots of options in paneer and the other regular stuff. Chinese main course i havent tried as yet. The rabdi and jalebis are very good too.
Coming to the bad: Since the place is huge (went there last satday and there was minimum waiting of 45-60mins) with about 500 odd sittings and more they are really under staffed. So at times the service is slow especially on weekends or other holidays. Also since service is slow there are times that the kebab starters come little cold to the table. Request one to be polite and friendly to the waiters and they will serve you efficiently. Tipping them before hand would help.
The ambiance: they have live ghazals where they belt out good numbers. For the drinking crowd it's perfect although i agree that the singer's ask for about 50-100 bucks per song which is fine but a bit too much to pay 100 bucks for a song. For kids there are lots of games to play like video games, joy rides, etc. They also have a machaan type sitting but ive hear that they charge a bomb for that and service there is slow.
VFM: per head damages can be about 400-500 if only food is consumed wholesomely. with drinks it can go upto 800-1000 per head.
Overall i again reiterate that Kinara is a must try place and you will keep going back for more.....
