  • No lamba line at LAMBA! 2011-09-12

Lamba is synonymous with a punjabi dhaba. Its run by sardars and offer proper punjabi fare. The chicken biryani, mutton seekh kabab biryani, tangdi kebab and prawn chilli are worth a try. However, anything other than these are just about okay.

The place is usually crowded on weekends. The prices on the menu are reasonable barring a few dishes where the quantity is very poor. The roti's are just the size of a grown man's hand. The food is a little too oily to consume. This place is great if you are low on cash and wish to have dhaba food. Otherwise, it is average.

The best prawns fry, tandoori chicken, dal makhani & punjabi food in general at this place. Although the portions are very small, it's the ideal place to feast gluttonously and get drunk. The ambience is very realistic. Bathroom tiles on the wall and hard (granite?) seats fixed to the wall. Even so, I'd have given this a 5 * rating just for the food if it weren't for my being (effectively) thrown out of here. Read on...

Now I'll be the first to admit that I am indeed a very sick and twisted person. I have macabre tastes & a highly inappropriate sense of humour. So when I was lunching with

  • Worst service award 2009-09-07

Lamba has got so many rave reviews before...I've heard its a great place. Maybe it is, if you dont care about the service, cleanliness, ambiance....

My sis called for chicken tikka, it was good, but the murg seekh kebab was nothing great.

And the service! O my God! The waiter was always in a hurry, least bothered about what we were asking for! I had called for a chana chaat and all he got me was boiled chana... Again, he justified saying that "yeh aisa hi aata hai" WAT A LIE....
It took a good 30 mins for the chicken to arrive. Upon asking, he said furiously "arey time

  • Good Food-Try the Prawns Fry 2009-01-21

I was directed to Lamba very recently during my visit to Mumbai.

I was fed up eating south indian vegetarian food which is very synonymous with Chembur, and it was a real good change to find Lamba, though I have in my previous visits tried the other places in the Camp area and the Station area too and found that either they are very expensive (station area) and the ones in the camp area are too crowded and too unclean and messy.

Lamba is a Punjabi restaurant and it has a bar permit and is not exclusively a family dining restaurant.

The food was really great, special

Been here last night and it was awful, everything that we ordered either wasn't available or was too quick at the table as in too quick less than a minute ( believe me ). the only saving grace was the prawns and the honesty of the waiter who gave my friends cell phone back on being lost there. Otherwise the food is pathetic.
We had the prawns, chicken rashmi kebab, tandoori, sheekh kebab, biryani, dal tadka and steam rice. Total damage done was 1650/- including drinks for 3.
My personal opinion is like your sitting in the boogie of a train and that you have no other option of eating

  • No great shakes 2008-12-19

Always on a hunt for new places in Chembur, we decided to head here after a long day at work. The inside looked rather cramped, so we sat outside. Which is practically on the street, next to other establishments and the main road.

Ordered a typical meal at a Punju place - Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Biryani and a veg starter... The food was average... nothing succulent or interestingly flavored. Like a regular take-out place. The service was almost too quick - if you know what I mean. You are looking to chill and dawdle over the starters, but the rest of the food arrives too soon.

  • OH MY GOD 2008-10-29

With Lamba you can be rest assured of the kind of chicken that comes to your plate.... it can only be fantastic!

The place is cheap, doesn't hurt you to drop in even when the month-end starts to show in your bank account.

Crossing Diamond Garden has become so difficult ever since i stepped inside Lamba.... the aroma, just draws you in!

It's been a while since I have had anything from Lamba. However, anyone walking around in Diamond Garden, Chembur will easily testify the highly salivating aroma emanating from Lamba.

  • Just 2 Words - Great Food! 2008-09-08

I am a regular at this place. Although there is nothing fancy about the ambiance, the food quality and service More than makes up for that. The food is just the best I've ever had. If you are Lamba's, do not miss the daal makhani & the tangdi kababs. Needless to say, it's the seafood at this place that just rocks. The overall atmosphere of this place is comfortable. I think some new dishes were recently added as well.

The joint is family owned and is currently run by Karan Lamba, son of Inder Lamba, the founder of this place. A great family run operation for sure...
