  • Warm homely bakery atmosphere 2012-03-22

My first brush with LPQ was in Dubai and I have been their fan ever since. Naturally I was ecstatic when I saw their outlet at Colaba. Everything about this outlet is commendable - the decor, lighting, baking counter, display of desserts et al. To begin with, I especially like the simple yet wholesome menu they have devised. The daily special soup is a delicacy in it's own right and serves as a good starter.

We had the famous Tartines for appetizers and the Seared Basil Chicken with chilli potatoes, pesto & lemon sauce for the main course. We also sampled a variety of desserts on both

  • Sinful chocolate deserts 2012-03-20

Their croissants and deserts were sinfully good :) However, their green tea was so bitter that i had to add sugar(for the first time in my life) to their green tea. Overly brewed and terrible green tea:(

  • Nice place to hang around near Colaba 2012-03-19

Visited Le Pain Quotidien much after it opened. Had been intending to go there since a long time, but finally ended up there, quite unplanned for a quick light dinner.

Loved the decor, high ceilings, beautiful colors all around and nice lighting. Perfect for a day time meeting, even a quite business meeting during the day, or a quiet dinner some day.

I had the Caprese Salad (Mozzarella di Buffala and Plum Tomatoes with shaved parmesan and extra virgin oil). I added some balsamic vinegar to it and it was perfect with some freshly baked bread (i think baguette- I do not remember

  • Good place for a quiet breakfast/evening 2012-03-19

I was at LPQ a little while back - one of those evenings where you want to top up a good play in SoBo with a nice walk and a good meal.

Wife and I decided to sit up-stairs, which was a mistake for two reasons - downstairs with its community style seating and bar tables, etc is a far more alive place than upstairs which is more of restaurant style seating. The foreigners seemed to prefer downstairs, while the locals seemed to prefer upstairs (which struck me as odd and interesting). Nevertheless, we ordered the baker's basket (which comes with an assortment of jams and spreads), french

  • Lacking customer service skills 2012-01-05

Was there on lunch on 31 Dec with my wife & 18 month old baby.
As I entered the place was almost full. Took a LONG time to get the menu on the table & then even to order. It took almost 30 mins till my order was placed. I ordered what my server suggested. It took more 25 mins for my order to finally come to me. Till then we were having best hot choclate ever had in India & blueberry smoothie. As my order arrived we started eating, to my surprise there was a HAIR inside my main course order. I shared the open sandwich with my wife & left. On telling the server about the HAIR, they didn't seem

  • Bread has to be better 2011-11-28

Le Pain is always famous for their good bread in the UK but when I went to their outlet in Mumbai, I was very disappointed. The bread tasted stale and had a chemical after taste.

The food is no where as good as it is in the UK.

  • Horrible cold bread and soup. 2011-11-25

Entered yesterday evening to chill out with my date on the approach the staff would not allow us to sit on top but at the same time allowed other guest to do so.We sat deciding on our meal at the same time the waiter would just stand there as if trying to taunt us to give an order.finally we decided on soup which was the days special the lintel soup tasted like cold dal with no seasoning and the bread served was not even fresh as you would complain coming too a place that says they bake there own bread.frustrated and bugged we did enjoy and had a relaxing time at the Leopold Cafe On Causeway.... read more

  • great ambience, good food, slow service 2011-09-24

This place is pretty chic. The ambience is very well done...pine wood flooring with a nice sapling at very table completes the lazy well lit european cafe feel. The food's great...i ordered pasta....(kid's menu) which was great and came up a choco cookie. My friends orders thyme chicken and fish which were both excellent. The portion size was just right and i could go back anyday for another meal. However, they can do much better with speed....it took us over 35 mins to get our plates on the table. And it took the guy 15 minutes to get our bill. Apparently the guy knew we were lunching in between... read more

  • Alright 2011-08-19

Went here on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The bread is pretty good, but some of the breads we ordered were just not available.... The food is passable, but the quantity is miniscule for the price. Ambience is nothing special. Plain wooden chairs and tables. Not brilliant for the price charged, but I guess they've got to make rent somehow being in that part of Bombay.
