In a city of Mumbai there are plenty of restaurants serving great ,rich punjabi food but here in bandra on the station road is a blink u will miss Restaurant named National Restaurant which serves Great & Simple Punjabi food . The ambience is very basic ,but clean , the food is great , simple and fresh , the spices are free of color , and oil used is minimal , their menu is unique ...where else would get a combination of Rajma and urad dal , or Chana &Palak or Rajma & Pakoda curry ,etc ...the best thing is the food can be made according to ones liking on a little extra charges , the Roti"s are very good , parotha"s better and makki roti"s are lajawab. The one thing missing is a lack of variety in Non -Veg as they only serve Chicken ,no mutton and fish . The Flavor of their food is enhanced by use of coal in their cooking (entire process of cooking is done on Coal ) NO GAS . One can take ones family to eat there but before 11pm as post 11 pm its more of the bachelors and groups that fill up the place . The top recommendation would be Rajma fry. Chana fry , their dals are simply mind blowing ,if u want it high on cals ,ask them to fry it in butter , for Non -Veg their chicken masala , chicken moglai , and chicken liver masala is simply awesome, they do need to work on their paneer muttar , baingan bhartha , i would say that its a punjabi dhaaba great in taste ,light on stomach and wallet .
