How to make your Meal Memorable at Oh calcutta! 2012-02-25
I have been going to Oh Calcutta since years and being a bengali am normally the person who has to accompany a lot of friends because they most often do not know what to order.. so heres just a suggestion of making your evening, afternoon memorable at OH calcutta!. I always liked the place not just because of the food but I like the subtle decor and the the way the waiters are always ready to feed you like a typical Calcutta bengali house! A sad end to a long term relationship 2011-08-21
Have been a fan and patron of this since 1995, when it was a small 3 tables eatery in Shivaji Park, and then called Only Fish. Currently, this is where Sweet Bengal is.
Even my earlier review of this restaurant was excellent.
But I guess, it had to end this way. Went there for lunch today to again enjoy the ilish festival, but had to walk out since we were not served.
Ordered for the standard bhetki fish fry and the Ilish bhaja - the steward, Banamali, asked if we wanted the starters as the start of the meal - duh!! I always thought starters were brought ahead... read more -

Awesomastic food!! 2011-06-01
Absolutely amazing food from and for the Bengali diaspora. However, I wouldn't wanna label this is great "bengali" food but just great food. Do give it a try and if you're into fish at all, you're gonna love this place. Probably gonna switch to the healthy fish diet and boycott unhealthy red meat after eating here. -

First Rate But Perhaps A Bit Pricy? 2011-05-29
I'd been to Oh Calcutta several times in the early 2000s, on visits to Mumbai from the States, and always loved the Bhapa Ilish, Ilish Shorshay, Daab Chingri and desserts. I even remember when they had a menupage emphasising Dacca specialities (I think it was called "From the Nawabi Kitchens" or something like that), which seems to have disappeared now. Went there on Friday night for dinner for the first time since probably 2004, and ordered some of my old favorites.
