I had been there last weekend to watch Haiii, ye mera dil. The acting was simply superb & yea go a chance to cath up wid veteran actor Sashi Kapoor. Overall, i loved their play & met d actors backstage to tell them that their play was really good... for 2 hrs i wasnt bored for a single minute... excellent place, good crowd... & a real nice way to spend ur evening! -

So here I was, partner firmly in tow, in an auto rushing towards Juhu's famed Prithvi Theater, feeling extremely accomplished because I had finally taken the initiative to actually do something different apart from going out drinking. I had booked online on BookMyShow- Prithvi's default online booking partner apparently- which was a great idea because the play turned out to be Houseful. Everything was above excellent, from the play to the chai. Lovely, intimate setting with quality shows. The cafe is a great place to hang out before and after. An avuncular gentleman playing the flute in the cafe sealed the deal for me. I'm hooked to Prithvi. -

Prithvi Theatre is the only theatre that I have come across towards Nothern Suburbs, that plays English and Hindi plays... I just love the whole play watching experience here... Since the auditorium is small, one feels close to the stage and the actors... And to make it even better one must grab the front row seats... The best time to go here would be during the festivals... Like I was here during the Rahul Da Cunha festival... The festival goes on for a month playing all the plays of any one selected director/writer. Been to this place last week for Hindi play the play was good & auditorium is very relaxed. They have different types of plays that are been played on regular basis. Auditorium is huge big & have great atmosphere. Seating is comfortable & they even have open-air café is a warm, inviting space, a relaxed hangout and a vital breathing space. -

A cosy theatre 2009-06-09
A visit to Prithvi reminds me of my college auditorium. The main auditorium has been designed to give an intimate feeling with actors performing a number of scenes while standing literally in the midst of audience.
Prithvi plays are ofcourse stuff of legend and require no introduction. I would also like to point out the fact that Prithvi management is also organising innovative shows like Science demostrations (Chai and why) at Prithvi.
In summary, this is a place still run by people who have passion for theatre and no wonders remains one of the best auditoriums in India.
