We went in a bunch of 8 for Lunch this afternoon, and while most of us ordered for the Mutton Fry Thali priced at a decent 235 INR, We had 3 Veg Thali eaters too, priced at 140 INR if I am not mistaken. The food was mostly good, though I loved the Mutton Fry with it's fall-off-the-bone tender meat and just the perfect masala to go with it. The first Bhakri that was served to us was cold, but the one that followed was nicely hot and soft. Rice was decent, Keema quantity was pretty less in the Thali. Being born in Kolhapur, I have an avid taste for the Mutton Thali from Kolhapur. You can visit any of the smaller restaurants at the entrance of this city and find excellent quality mutton dishes in the thali alongwith the city’s famous tambda and pandhra rassa’s.
Having the same expectations in mind, that this outlet would make waves even if it matches with one of the average Kolhapur thali restaurants – I went to this place on a mutton high. its been long while since i had heard of Purepur Kolhapur and I badly wanted to try tht. ysrdy i got a chance 2 go 2 the newly open hotel @ dadar. n its was "popat"... thrs nothin like a touch of kolhapuri hottness in the food...
normally hearing of a "tambda rassa" will bring water 2 ur mouth N aftr eating it brings water in ur eyes.... but the rassa served here has nothin like tht atall... any small child can hv 1 bowlful of tht....
i had also order "dhangari chicken" which is suppesed 2 b the hottest of the menu... but again the disappointment....
