  • Marathi coastal food... at its near best 2011-09-23

My recent experiences have been very very good. This place is a must go for people fond of sea food, especially with a taste for Maharastra’s konkan strip sea food preparation. The quality of fish is very good, felt it was fresh, and cooked very well. The flavours of the red curry just eases itself into the taste buds.
The kitchen is open till late, which is convenient.
The crab curry would have done more good with less of coconut... it nearly kills the lovely flavor of the crab stock! The fried fish leaves back some oil in the dish, which doesn’t look pretty...,but apart from that,

  • Malwani home food in a restaurant 2011-06-23

The food is unashamedly spicy, full of masala and largely coconut based from Malwan. So for those who have sensitive tongues, this is not for you. Its a refreshing change to go to a single cuisine restaurant with no Punjabi, Tandoori, Chinese thrown in. They have recently revamped their menu and added a few bits and pieces [Alu Wadi – Patrel to Gujjus/Parsis, Kothimbir Wadi etc]. Prices have been upped a bit but they are still very reasonable.

The place is always spanking clean and well lit. The owners sit at the counter keeping an eagle eye on proceedings. The curries are obviously pre-c

  • Nice Coastal Food! 2011-05-10

Although I have not been to the place, have seldom ordered whenever Iv had a craving for sea food. The fish fries eg; the surmai fry is quite bland while the bangda (Mackrel) fry is quite spicy. The fish biryani is a killer...its simply spicy with all the malvani spices/flavours wonderfully blended. The green masal gravies are ok nothing that I can rave about. I am sure that the food had at that place will be equally good since it is served hot. I liked the quality & quantity of the food. Being a good cook myself I am very selective about places I eat from and am also a good critique. The fish... read more

  • Nothing great 2010-06-29

The food is mediocre, not available everday (some dishes are available on on certain days of the week)...pricing wise its just alright.. in the same budget, i would recommend "Highway Gomantak' at bandra east, which is far better than Saayba...Not a good experience u see!

  • Decent... 2008-05-15

Well I heard a lot about its value for money, now I'm not necessarily complaining here, but I have had a lot better Gomantak food, at a FAR better pricing, in Bandra itself.

That restaurant has a more home-run feel to it and is located on the Western Express Highway, if anyone knows what I'm talking about.

So, have I eaten better Gomantak food? Yes.
Has it cost me less? Yes.
Would I come here again? Prolly not.

Staying in Andheri, I have options that are equally as good if not far better. I don't mean to rag on this place, its obviously had its fair

  • Lost appetitte 2008-03-29

Read so much bout sayba,,, n only to find everythin totally opposite. We ordered d surmai red masala n tasted as if d masala was raw, there was no flavour,. Mutton sagoti was just k k, but d quality of d mutton was pathetic. But u can definately go to d plc to have fried fish. Esp deep fried crisy bombay duck. Better options wud by highway gomantak or even jai hind.

  • Absolutely Fabulous! 2007-11-16

Total value for money. The Kombdi Vade with the spicy Mutton curry are to die for!
