I remember the trips to samrat used to be a one off things when i was younger.. anytime we had to go to churchgate ( from borivali) it used to be an event and samrat would feature prominently in those plans.. now i frequent samrat at the first opportunity i get and it still delivers.
the food is excellent anyone who said that its oily or spicy must have pissed off his server in some unforgivable way, because i have NEVER been disappointed at samrat. sure its not fine dining and it doesn't pretend to be one either... but its good food nonetheless.
the last trip there had us ordering Malai Kofta, Veg Makhanvala and Dal Makhanni. the portions are suffiiently large. our family of four all had second helpings and there was still some left. If there was ONE reason why i come here - it has to be the reshami Paratha... its the falkiest crispiest most amazingly succelent ( the inner layer) paratha i've eaten. the Thali is an obvious favourite of the patrons here but their ala-carte is just as good.. I'll keep coming back every chance i get.
