sassanian is not a place for connoisseurs. it is a place for the realistic, the grounded and for those who want to be entertained - even if it is at their own expense.
the food is tasty, though not brilliant. the kheema-paav is the one dish that comes closest to brilliant. the other snacks and lunch items such as akuri are tasty.chaai and b(r)un-maskaa are a staple - cannot go wrong there. their puffs and cake are good, not too oily, and leave a pleasing aftertaste.
the people sitting at the counter have to be met and spoken with, to understand what goes into running a place like sassanian. they are blunt, jovial, irreverent and forever willing to have a good time at anyone's expense. a rhino hide helps to bond with them. this aspect is what makes sassanian stand out and gives oodles of character to the place. the owners get 5 stars from me.
experience it to believe it.
