good food though nt vfm 2011-08-19
the food is authentic malwani and is quite good. however, the prices are to much for the portion. i mean 70rs for a surmai fry equal to the size of my middle finger is something i cnt digest. i would give this 2 stars. but the soul kadi won my heart and that desrves one more star. located opposite to the station this place is hard to find and you wnt get a parking here. -

very very tasty malawani food, especially the pompret thali with solkadhi. the cost is also less.
the only thing is the car parking place here, (and if you are new- finding the entrance to the restaurant) but otherwise absolute paisa vasool. -

our staple diet is Malwani and Goan food,so whenever we are lazy enough to cook food and want the typical ghar ka khana we go for satkar,the vade that are served here couldnt be beat by any restaurant,no words to describe the food and very reasonable too,try it ull all love it -

One of the best "Hole in the Wall" restaurants that I have been to in Mumbai till date ..
The day was friday and as usual me and my office colleague were craving for a good gomantak lunch. We were bored of the usual Gajalee and Mahesh Lunch Home and Pangat , so decided to call up a few frnds who stay around Goregaon (thats where office is) and check if there are any similar places around here. We got the same name from 2 places - SATKAR. Our well wishers did warn us of the low level ambience and long queues for tables, but when it comes to food – who cares !!

Decent food with very small portions!!! 2010-07-13
I went to this restaurant on Sunday as I was in a mood to have sea food. However, the quantity of food served is very less when compared to other Malwani restaurants like Gomantak or even Pangat. We ordered fish and chicken thali with fried surmai, crab masala, fried prawns and sol kadhi.
The taste of the food was strictly average but we were surprised to find a single and very small piece of fish and the extra gravy given with the thali was again not sufficient. VFM - Yummy - feel like home food 2010-03-29
This place is a small gem which may go unnoticed unless someone knows about it - well the route to the hotel is little scary ;) but once you are in and have managed to grab some sitting place - you are all praises and accloads for this place -It is just meant for eating and not hanging out - fish is simple and superb - you feel as if you are having home cooked curries - nice yummy food which left my tummy content but my heart craving for some more :)
best part was the bill :) 600/3 which generaly turns out to be worst part :)

If crunchy bombil, tangy solkadi, finger-licking fish curry, lip-smacking fish fry to go down with rice and bhakri is your ideas of a feast that too on a shoe-string budget, then look no further...just head to Satkar Rice Plate House opposite Goregoan railway station(east). The quality of the food served here is excellent and quantity is generous. The place is almost always crowded so be prepared to wait for your turn to sit and eat. -

If you are in search of the real teast of the Malvani food then here it is a typical Khanawal for the gharguti (home made) test of the malvani food at reasonable pries.

Though Goregaon east scores really low on restaurants.....satkar would be called as one of the best joints for typical malwani food available in the suburbs..the solkadis are really soul touching and the rest of the menu is cost friendly and gives your taste buds an immense pleasure of "assal malwani".
the only thing which bothered me is its dingy ambience..This place is rather pathetic when it comes to ambience as its decor has not been changed for the last 20 years maybe...!!!!
But a good place for people who want to take home deliveries. -

Good Seafood Joint at Goregaon 2007-06-17
Satkar specialises in sea food, although a few veggie items are available.
Their thick, smooth coconutty curry is not to be missed - take your pick between pomfret, surmai or halwa fish for the curry, as per your liking.
They also serve yummy prawns and bombil (Bombay duck), dredged in rawa and fried crisp. Serving size for these is small. We only wish they served beer with these items!
