    We paid the Shalimar a visit after many years. We went upstairs to the A/C section, where the ambiance is quite average. We were greeted by unenthusiastic staff who seated us near a service room entrance (with a transparent glass door). While we waited for our order we could see the unhygienic and careless antics of the staff in the service room which was quite off putting (in retrospect we should have walked out at this time).     I don't have words to describe . The starters are dry . Staff is least interested . If you get a bad dish in home delivery and you question them they don't give a shit. Waste of money

    visited this famed restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. came away very disappointed. average biryani. average chicken tandoori . tremendous spicy masala added to the biryani was a big no-no !

    Every time we visit, their chilly chicken gravy and tandoor roti is a must have. Tastes best when eaten hot! Reshmi kebab tikka, chicken tikka biryani, chicken fried rice, paneer chilly dry are really yummy too.
    The chicken cheese sandwich and the shawrma's a really nice too!
    Shalimar special falooda with shalimar ice cream is the best among all the options available. Just the ice cream is really good too.
    Good quick service. Except the waiting time occasionally during dinner time. But they make sure you get a table as soon as possible.

    their low standards are now showing on the no. of patrons coming in.
    last night i saw the entire 2nd hall vacant which used to be a rare sight for this place.
    their food has lost the taste... esp. tandoori chk is way below the mark...
    i ordered seekh kebab.. and they charged 200 bucks for 4 seekhs...
    normally a meal for 2 at this place was just around 400 and now it comes to 750 and tat too this poor taste... they need to look in to this .. or some new place is will surely come up soon with better food in this area...

    Advice to Writers of the review.

    Just concentrate on the taste of Food & not any thing else.
    Hotels are meant for Eating & not Entertainment.
    If you really want good staff with best behavior then better go to 5 Star Hotels.
    Restaurants are made for Eating so just concentrate on it.

    The Staff/Waiter and Food year by year are going down....... Food tastes less tastier every time we went and now they have hired Bhaiyyas who might be working on cheap salaries so they dont have manners to talk and behave...... A very very good place is now fading its repu by time........

    Shalimaar its nothing the food over here is tasteless and the service is very poor and the way in which reply is given by the staff and the way they talk is senseless. If the BURRP certificate is given when the food taste was same which I experienced then the person who gave the certificate is a fool please take the accreditation back they don't deserve it. Bad Experience and Baste of Money.

    The Mutton Biryani is the best in Shalimar and I have been there several times just for eating the same. The Tandoori & Kebab items are also very delicious and they also serve Indian Chinese Sizzlers which were also very good. There is a mad rush at all hours and there is also a special ac waiting room. But the last few time I have gone, I have seen baby cockroaches walking on the wall next to our table and once on the table itself. When I told the waiter he said "Apne aap chala jayega".     My Review explains Exactly how this Restaurant is..... This very old restaurant situated in the most crowded places in Mumbai has somehow lost its charm, The famous old "Tandoori Chicken" is drenched in Red color and doesn't taste that good anymore.... I hence mark it down on "Quality", The gravy I ordered was too less in quantity as well so I would mark it down on "Quantity".... Not extremely "Pricey" but the taste lacks the OOmph factor..... Its not a bad option if you are in the "Bhendi Bazaar" area but I would not come all the way to visit this restaurant.... which I do frequently in the city... read more
