From the few times I have visited this place since its opening, I have witnessed it going down from bad to worse and hitting a completely new low. I had first been there when it was opened by Suren Joshi. After he left it went to the dogs. The crowd is generally seedy (read:rowdy boys who visit the place for hookah and drinks and underage college kids who dont get served alcohol and hookah anywhere else). I visited Tawouk this last Monday night at 11:30 pm with a cousin visiting from the states who was craving a sheesha. We were 2 couples and not even stags. We entered to find it empty barring 3-4 seedy guys sitting inside who stared at my female friends. The music was loud and we sat at a table and ordered for beers and a sheesha. The waiter came and demanded 400 rupees per person as cover charge ?!?! on a Monday night when it was empty! I tried reasoning it out with them but they were rude and unhelpful so we walked out. I think they dont even want the little business they want on an empty week night. I wouldnt recommend Tawouk to anyone unless they are stags desperate to get a drink. Head to Cafe Mocha in the vincinity at churchgate to save your ladies from the letching desperado's at Tawouk.
