Was at tetsuma for a brunch thrown by a friend, a month back. The food was great, but I feel they are tampering with the alcohol. The host called the manager to get a bottle of grey goose(vodka) but when the bottles arrived they were already open, I found that very strange. When we started drinking we found it tasted a bit weird, but said may be we were already too drunk.
The day after my friends, including myself and the host severe headache, and thats when we realized that we were right. It was a brunch so I guess they have to cut corners, but coming from a fine dining restaurant like Tetsu

  • Great food, but no people!!!! 2010-09-20

I have no idea why the entire place was EMPTY (save 3 Japanese people) on a Sunday afternoon. The starters and sushi/sashimi were very good, far better than what we get at the same price in other places. The fish was fresh and the salads were interesting. The main course lacked finesse and was a bit Indian-Oriental. The bar needs some working on though. But why were there no people?!?!?!?!

Should be called Shitsuma after the food or Stinksuma after the waiters.

Sushi is terrible. Clearly was using food coloring on Tuna Sashimi.

Not sure anything was imported. Suffice it to say you cannot have Indian raw fish.

Wagyu or Kobe cannot be had at these prices. i.e. It isn't Wagyu or Kobe.

Finally the waiters had terrible hygiene. I almost vomited after smelling his armpit for the 100th time. Although my friend pointed out that perhaps the smell was not the waiter, but in fact the sushi.

    Need I say more?

  • Great Place 2010-09-10

Okay, i have no idea why everyone is badgering this place so much, i went there yesterday despite the reviews being so horrendous and it took me by surprise. I've been meaning to come here for a while, but was waiting for the right opportunity (read: ample money) the ambiance of this place is brilliant! i loved the decor especially the small water pond with lotuses whirl-pooling, lighting was just perfect (pretty romantic actually). service was prompt and the waiters were pretty approachable.
speaking of the food, lets just say I've eaten sushi a lot (and love it too) but this place by far

  • Never again! 2009-06-17

My sister took me to Tetsuma's for her birthday on my insistence(what was I thinking?), since I LOVE Japanese food. The good part was that they had enough for the vegetarians to order, but the place is sad. The waiter came over placed a bottle of mineral water, opened it and served it to us. We drank it, assuming that the restaurant served it free(please understand that we were never asked if we wanted Aquaguard or Bottled water, it was assumed that we would go for the latter) and we were shocked when they charged us a hundred bucks for the water.
The waiter was non apologetic and said that

  • Can't give less than 1 star... 2009-05-31

These guys should stick to the night club business. Was there for a friends Birthday - my wife - had the Sushi and was food poisoned - food was awful - both Veg and Non-veg. And as another reviewer pointed out - you can't sell Kobe beef for Rs. 900 - this place is a sham. - go for the bar / club (next door) - not for the food.

  • Fast Food Japanese. 2009-03-17

When you walk into Tetsuma, you expect a great fresh Japanese meal. When you walk out of Tetsuma, you want to go to Wasabi to get the bad taste out of your mouth.

The fish they use is frozen (as mentioned to me by the manager). When I complained he said it keeps it fresh. Right - so instead of using fresh fish (like any upscale Japanese restaurant, including the neighboring Wasabi) Tetsuma uses frozen fish, to keep the fish fresh. I find that scary on so many levels. Does the moron realize that something frozen isn't fresh anymore? The reason I came across this revelation is the sashimi

  • Excellent ambience, good sushi 2007-09-11

We sat in the lounge area so I can't comment on the private rooms, but the (three) couches and tables in the lounge are comfortable and sleek. The whole place has a very clean, modern, (and expensive) feel. The lounge feels a little bit like the waiting room for the interior seating, positioned as it is by the front door opposite the bar, but no complaining here - we got a table with no advance reservation.

On the plus side, the fish we had was of good quality, and there is a full menu of sushi and sashimi - unlike Seijo, for example. Prices are still on the high side, but not as ridicul

  • Nobu?! 2007-08-30

Well almost.....the miso cod (or bass) is divine...just tell them not to over cook it, sashmi / sushi is almost at par with my favourite sushi joints in new york....skip the non japanese stuff (ie korean dishes-beef bulgogi or whatever) and well you won't be dissapointed, even their udon noodles are awesome....i have only sampled those dishes

their sunday brunch is good....and I once had their 500 bento box which was pretty good

I like this place....to drink/play or eat...as long as i stick to my dishes....but i do agree with the previous review it can be a little $$
